Fayose Accuses INEC Of Working For APC In Ondo Election

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has lamented the outcome of the Ondo State Governorship election, saying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) connived with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its collaborators in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the election before it was conducted.

He said; “Just as I would have loved to congratulate the winner, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), because in every contest, there must be a winner and a loser, the role of INEC in awarding victory to him in the election left much to be desired.”

The governor, who reacted to the outcome of the election in a statement issued to NEWSFLASHNGR.COM by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayina, said INEC gave the APC victory in the election by deliberately replacing the name of Mr Eyitayo Jegede, the PDP candidate, thereby creating legal logjam that lasted till three days to the election.

He said that the PDP went to the election with its hands tied to the back because of the uncharitable actions of INEC, which has no doubt become an arm of the APC.

He maintained that apart from the APC, political parties in Nigeria are now contesting elections against INEC.

Governor Fayose lamented that “to sustain the ‘see and buy’ strategy and legalise money politics, the APC-led federal government deliberately created poverty in the country so as to continue to enslave the minds of Nigerians with peanuts to get their votes on election day, saying; “Dibo ko sebe (vote and collect money to cook soup) was the slang used by the APC in the Ondo State election and that only worked because the APC federal government have put Nigerians in abject poverty.”

He said; “Even though INEC allowed what appeared like a free and fair atmosphere on the election day, the election had been won and lost before it was held.

“For instance, INEC that witnessed the PDP primary election that produced Mr Eyitayo Jegede succumbed to pressure from the APC cabal to replace him with Jimoh Ibrahim, who did not take part in any primary
election known to the Electoral Act.

“What could anyone have done under 72 hours in an election that was heavily monetised by the APC?

“The whole process was a deliberate sabotage by INEC, which has totally bastardised the electoral process.

“Obviously, all these shenanigans are geared towards turning Nigeria to a one part state by weakening all opposition parties ahead of the 2019 general elections but I can assure Nigerians that this will not last because the people will always be defeat tyranny.

Protest As INEC Declares Akeredolu Winner Of Ondo Election

There is protest from the the agent of the Peoples Democratic Party at the declaration of the final result of the Ondo State governorship election’

Mr. Ayo Fadaka, had protested the result of the Saturday election which was won by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin declared Akerodolu the winner of the election with a total vote of of 244,842.

The PDP candidate came second with 150,380 votes; the Alliance for Democracy candidate, Chief Olusola Oke polled 126, 889 and the the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Olu Agunloye scored a total of 10,147 votes.

Fadaka, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the process while speaking in an interview with journalists Immediately after Akeredolu was declared the winner said the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Federal Government programmed and designed the poll to make the PDP candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede to fail.

He accused the FG of opening its vault for the APC candidate which he said led to inducing votes with as much as N5,000 per vote in many polling units.

He further stated that the INEC rushed the election despite the fact that they had up to January 27 to conduct it.

However, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, denied the allegation of collaboration with the FG to manipulate the process in favour of the APC candidate.

The REC, who described the allegation as an unfounded one said the electoral body did a thorough job.

THE REALITY ON GROUND

SOME TRUTH NOW THAT THE ELECTION IS OVER

ON JEGEDE: Jegede is such a fine gentleman. He will make a good leader someday and he has a future in Ondo politics, if only he will rescue himself from the hold of that dribbler with expired booth, Mimiko!

ON OKE: He is a politician par excellence. He is brave but careless. He co-habited as live-in lovers with his first wife while both were schooling in Ife and that was where they, as students, gave birth to their first child and daughter who is now a doctor. But Oke went to NDDC and he returned with Nkem, his Ibo wife, tall and beautiful...

From the version the insider historian made us know, the day Oke arrived from NDDC after the expiration of his tenure, he ordered for a brand new prado jeep for the first wife and on arrival, the woman reportedly said 'Semia (name she solely called Oke), if you have not brought me a new wife as a gift and you did not bring me anything from NDDC, I would have celebrated with you today my husband on the successful completion of your tenure. But now, you came back with two gifts for me, a new car and a new wife. I reject both." the woman tearfully submitted.

Oke had not become the governor, he had made Nkem the visible FIRST LADY! His supporters called her HER EXCELLENCY. They knew the truth but chose to look away, as if the wife did not exist there.

People pretended that woman was a happy woman... too bad!

As a boy, you need thex prayers of one woman to suucceed, your mother; but as a man, you need the intetcession of two happy women to make it to the top and not to fall, your mother and your wife.

Some mistakes men make...

Some mistakes men must avoid...

Attributes like these unmake men in history and have marred a number of leaders.

ON THE IKALE PEOPLE: I respect this tribe in Yoruba. They keep faith with a cause. Once they pledge their support, they don't look back. They don't back out. They don't worship money. They hate serving two gods. They are not tribalistic. They are not nepotistic. Agagu an Ikale man constructed more roads and bridges in Ilaje during his tenure. He was bringing a university and he took it to the boundary between Ikale and Ilaje.

Even if he did not win, the Ikales pledged their support for Oke till the end! What a wonderful people!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!!!!!

We Won’t Allow You Quit Active Politics yet, Jonathan Tells Anenih

FORMER President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has told a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, that he cannot quit active politics yet.

Jonathan spoke on Saturday at the venue of the launch of Anenih’s book, where the former Minister of Works announced the decision to quit active politics.

Jonathan told Anenih that he has to rescind his decision to quit active politics because his experience in security and politics would be wasted if he left at this time.

He said: “You may not be in position to attend political meetings, but you are our political leader until God decides that you will leave us.

“The country is passing through political stages (and) your experience and wisdom will be required to direct us and stabilise the nation.

“We will excuse you from attending night meetings, BoT meetings, but you will continue to mentor us, we will continue to consult you.”

I Blocked Atiku From Becoming President — Anenih

A former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih, said he blocked ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar from succeeding former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Anenih stated this in his book, titled ‘My Life and Nigerian Politics,’ which was presented in Abuja on Saturday.

Anenih, who served as the Minister of Works and Housing between 1999 and 2002, said Abubakar became too ambitious during the build-up to the 2003 presidential election in which Obasanjo was seeking a second term.

“As a result of my preparations for Chief Obasanjo’s second tenure, I stepped on the toes of many of those who did not want him to seek a second term. These are the people I can now refer to as members of the ‘G3’. These were General Ibrahim Babangida, (ex-) Vice- President Atiku Abubakar and the (ex-) National Security Adviser, General Aliu Gwarzo.

“There was no other way I could have offended the vice-president other than that I prevented him from being PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2003 presidential election. He erroneously believed that he was the only politician at the Villa and that he was better qualified than the President. I was well ahead of him in all his plans to prevent Chief Obasanjo from running (for re-election).”

Anenih, however, noted that after blocking Abubakar, the former vice-president also ensured that he (Anenih) lost his position in Obasanjo’s cabinet.

The former PDP BoT Chairman also claimed that he was the one who made Atiku second-in-command in 1999.

He said after the PDP presidential primary of 1998, the then Chairman of the party, Solomon Lar, recommended three northerners to be Obasanjo’s running mate.

The three nominees were Prof. Jerry Ghana, Abubakar Rimi and Adamu Ciroma.

Lar was said to have told Obasanjo that Rimi was his preferred candidate but Obasanjo wasn’t convinced.

Anenih, according to the book, then advised Obasanjo to pick Atiku, who had just won the governorship election in Adamawa State and was waiting to be sworn in.

He added, “I asked Obasanjo whether he would want a vice-president that would give him absolute confidence and allow him to sleep with his two eyes closed or whether he would want a vice-president he did not trust.

“He answered that he would like to sleep with his two eyes closed. It was at this point that I asked him: ‘What about Atiku?’ Chief Obasanjo’s answer was that Atiku had just won his governorship election and the law might not allow him to come on board as his running mate.

“We both decided to get a lawyer to advise us and Barrister Alimi Rasaq of Kwara State was sent for. He advised us that there was nothing in the constitution that prevented Atiku from being his running mate; especially as Atiku had not been sworn in.”

Speaking at the book presentation, which had in attendance several PDP leaders, Anenih announced that he had quit politics.

However, former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was a special guest of honour, rejected Anenih’s retirement, urging him not to abandon the PDP.

Meanwhile, the ex-minister said he survived death after an eight-hour heart surgery.

He stated this during a thanksgiving service held at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro-Cathedral Church, Garki, Abuja.

He said, “There is nothing God cannot do if you believe in him sincerely. I had a problem with my heart. So I was subjected to eight hours of surgery and seven doctors were carefully selected to do that because of their experience.

“Before the operation, the seven doctors told the people that accompanied me (to the hospital) that I wouldn’t make it. I heard them.”

The event was attended by ex-Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar; ex-Vice-President Namadi Sambo; Aliko Dangote; Second Republic Vice-President, Alex Ekwueme; a former Governor of Kogi State, Idris Wada; ex-Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido; a former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu; Prof. Jerry Gana and others.

‘It’s Foolish For Pastors To Ignore Police Protection’

The prevalent insecurity in Nigeria has been identified as a major reason why pastors need more than divine protection to operate without harm, in the country.

This is the position of most clerics, who spoke to Sunday Telegraph during a recent survey.

According to the General Overseer, Kings in Christ Church, Rev. Chidi Anthony: “It borders on foolishness for any pastor to ignore police protection, giving the scary security situation in Nigeria.”

The survey became necessary because many people have been wondering why many servants of God go about with heavy police presence as if the Almighty God had withdrawn his divine protection, which he so generously bestows on clerics according to the Holy Scripture.

Responding to the survey, wife of the General Overseer, Victorious Army Church, Pastor Blessing Agboli, said: “That does not mean we do not need security coverage. Once in a while, we need police protection, especially when you hear of fellow men of God being kidnapped, robbed or even killed. There are several cases of kidnaps happening every now and then.

“When you are travelling outside your station to a place where you don’t know what the security aspect looks like, you need security, especially in a society like ours where we have issues of kidnapping, insecurity in the system. Besides, the security agencies in the country are now coming to advise churches on security.”

She, however, added: “But I don’t like the extravagant ones, like pastors going with long convoy of Police outriders, siring blowing. We don’t need that; but once in a while, if we are having conventions and very important personalities are attending, they need protection because of the security situation in this country.
Such persons will ask you if you have made adequate security arrangement. Yes; I don’t like it when a pastor is moving and a security man carrying a gun is following him about. The guns should be hidden.”

Some analysts are, however, not impressed with the reasons advanced by the men in the collars for resorting to ‘human’ protection: “It is tantamount to loss of faith in the Almighty God’s ability to protect his servant, if under any guise men of God have to rely on police protection,” Jude Okeke argued.

On the other hand, Pastor Ayodeji Oluwadare of Hebrews International Church, Lekki, explained that even Jesus Christ at a time had Apostle Peter walking beside him with machete to check people he considered as security threat to the Lord Jesus Christ.

He explained: “As one is growing in life, there will always be need for security protection. Even Jesus at a time, Peter took his sword and cut off the eye of somebody that came to arrest Jesus Christ.

When you are a young pastor, you may not be a security risk; but as you are growing in life, there is need for police protection. “Like Baba Adeboye, he did not use to go around with security detail, but one day, he went to somewhere in Yaba and Area-boys bombarded him.

Now it is difficult for him to go about without police protection. Also, it is difficult to host huge events without having security agents around to control the crowd. You need to guard your environment. It is very important that you need to guard yourself and your environment,” Oluwadare added. According to Oluwadare, this also applies not only to pastors but everyone.
“Even as you are praying, Bible says watch and pray. But many people just pray; they don’t watch. What I am saying in essence is that it is foolish for men of God to ignore police protection. Wisdom demands that security considerations should be taken into account.

The Bible says, we should be as wise as a serpent,” he explained. Unfortunately, kidnapping, robbery and killing of clerics has been on the increase in the country. In Kaura Local Government of Kaduna State, unknown gunmen kidnapped a senior pastor with Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Rev Yusuf Magaga.

The abductors later demanded a N2 million ransom. Similarly, three clerics of the Taraya Ekklesiyoyin Kristi A Nigeria (Fellowship of Churches of Christ in Nigeria, TEKAN), including their President, Dr Emmanuel Dziggau; his deputy, Rev. Illiya Anto, and a retired reverend in the church, Yakubu Dzarma, were kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja Road.

The abductors later demanded N100 million as ransom; but when one of the kidnapped clerics died in captivity, the kidnappers released the surviving pastors.

Still in Kaduna State, two other ECWA reverends, Pastor Joshua Kantiok and Pastor Yakubu Samaila, were also taken captive when kidnappers traced them to their farmland but were released after the kidnappers collected N500, 000 ransom from them.

A reverend of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Akobo-Ojurin, Diocese of Agodi, Ibadan, Dr. Biodun Ogunbekun, is another kidnap victim. Besides, the men in the collars are also targets of robbers and Islamic fundamentalist. Female RCCG Preacher, Eunice Olawale, was murdered by suspected Islamic fundamentalists in Abuja a few months ago.

Incidentally, the head of the Catholic Church, the Pope, used to have very limited security details around him until an attempt was made on the life of Pope John Paul II in Rome on May 13, 1981 by a Turkish gunman, Mehmet Ali Agca. Since then, security around the Pontiff has been noticeably stepped up.

These are just a few examples of men and women of God falling victims of ungodly acts perpetuated by their fellow human beings.

Tony Anenih Retires From Politics, Says I Have No More Ambition..

Tony Anenih, former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) board of trustees, has called it quits with politics.

Anenih, who is fondly called ‘Mr Fix It’, announced his decision to retire from politics at the launch of his book entitled, ‘My Life and Nigerian Politics’, in Abuja on Saturday.

“I am persuaded that I have no more ambition nor any point to prove in politics. I am, therefore, glad to declare that, from today, I shall be withdrawing from active partisan politics,” he said.

“I shall, however, continue to avail the country of my experience, give suggestions and offer advice, as a statesman.”

He urged Nigerians to support the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in his effort to make Nigeria a better place.

“I must not end this statement of gratitude without acknowledging the fact that our country is going through difficult times. It is a national predicament which we must confront in unity, irrespective of our partisan commitments, whether PDP, APC, AD or Labour,” he said.

“I, therefore, want to urge all Nigerians to persevere and hope for a better tomorrow. We must support and pray that God will give President Muhammadu Buhari the wisdom and vision to steer this country away from recession to prosperity.”‎

The former minister of works and housing under former President Olusegun Obasanjo is 83 years; he was born on August 4, 1933.

He is a trained police officer, and he was once an orderly of Nnamdi Azikiwe, first governor-general of Nigeria.

He had a political career which spanned decades. He was the state chairman of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) from 1981 to 1983, and he was instrumental in the emergence of Samuel Ogbemudia as civilian governor of then Bendel state.

Anenih was the national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from 1992 to 1993 — the platform on which the late MKO Abiola ran for president.

He joined the PDP, where he worked as the deputy national coordinator of Obasanjo’s campaign in the 1999 and 2003 elections, and he earned the moniker ‘Mr Fix It’ for his ability to provide leadership and solve knotty problems.

In May, he was rumoured to have died in a London hospital after he slumped in his home.

When he heard the news of his death, the statesman fired at tale bearers, wishing them what they wished him

“If I am dead, will I be talking to you? I am in London; I am alive and enjoying myself,” he said from London.

“I am not going to issue any press release to debunk the rumour. God will punish them, and I believe that they will die before me.”

Anenih joins Bamanga Tukur, Edwin Clark and other PDP bigwigs who retired from politics after the party lost the 2015 presidential election.

Sango, The god Of Lightening, Can't Produce 1KW Of Electricity - Fashola Says

Babatunde Fashola, minister of power, works and housing, says Sango, despite being the god of lightning and thunder, does not have the capacity to generate a single kilowatt of electricity.

Delivering the convocation lecture at the University of Benin on Friday, Fashola urged the graduands to free their minds from fear, and stop deifying resources that can be harnessed for the good of the society.

“Traditional medicine, from herbs, roots, and other endowments of nature have their place of pre-eminence in the assurance of our well-being and good health. I cannot say the same thing about divination and sacrifices,” he said.

“We must choose to work our iron ore to produce steel and build skyscrapers, machines and tools like others do instead of worshipping the god of Iron.We must use engineering to manage and control flooding and erosion.

“We must probe the treasures of our forests and depths of our oceans as bastions of possibilities that we must manage and dominate instead of worshipping the god of the sea.

“If we continue to fear the sea, oceans and waters we will perpetuate the practice of sacrifice, instead of undertaking the enterprise of understanding; and dominating them for energy and transport.

“We must approach our rock formations as treasure troves of building materials like marble, tiles and granite rather than treat them as totems of salvation that require animal sacrifice.

“We should stop deifying the moon and stratosphere beyond the visibility of our eyes out of fear. Instead we should develop the courage and resolve to send men and women to land a space craft there.”

He said prayer is good when combined with hard work. He added that all the divination and sacrifices made to Sango, the god of lightning, has not generated a single kilowatt of power.

“I urge you to free your mind from fear, reach for the skies, choose by conviction and not by fear; trust in your abilities and God given talent, take responsibility, work hard and pray if you believe.

“Yes, Sango is the god of lightning and thunder, but all the sacrifices made to Sango has not generated 1 (ONE) kilowatt of electric power.

“Electricity is produced by using nature’s gifts , such as gas, water, solar and wind, harnessing their capacity through turbines made from steel to serve our energy needs, not by making animal sacrifices.”

Fashola also urged his audience to “look for the book titled ‘Start Up Nation’ by Dan Senor and Saul Singer, saying: “It would provoke your thinking as it did mine.”

Jimoh Ibrahim Congratulates Akeredolu, Mocks Mimiko

The ousted Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ondo State, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has congratulated the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), who has won 14 out of the 17 Local Government Areas already announced.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the results of 17 out of 18 local governments. While Akeredolu has so far garnered 213,686 votes, the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has received 121,471, a gap which observers believe is unassailable.

Even though INEC has not yet declared Akeredolu as the governor-elect, Ibrahim, in a statement, congratulated Akeredolu.
He said, “My dear egbon. Congratulations. I have computed the results sent to me from 2907 wards by my party agents across Ondo State. It shows you are leading with unrecoverable margin. I congratulate you as governor-elect of our lovely state. I will advise you quickly maintain distance from Mimiko if you want to succeed.

“I have no doubt that you will urgently create hope for our people; kindly do whatever you can to assist your lovely civil servants. I saw poverty in those villages I visited during campaign. Please kindly assist traditional rulers as much as you can.”

Six Prisoners Die In Ilorin Prison Riot Fighting For Meat

Penultimate Thursday, what could best be described as mutiny happened at Mandala Prison Yard and Federal Prison, Okekura, both in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

Sunday Vanguard reliably gathered that about 76 condemned inmates from the facilities had been holding nocturnal meetings until penultimate Tuesday when their leader summoned the prison officials to unfold thirteen demands which must be met within twenty four hours.

Sources said agitation by prison inmates, particularly the condemned ones, was not strange in the last months of the year to draw the attention of the governor who has the sole power to grant them clemency in the new year.
It was gathered that condemned prison inmates also need the governors’ assent for them to be executed; so the end of the year period is strategic to them.

The demands of the condemned prison inmates in the two Ilorin prison yards included that they wanted to be eating four pieces of meat per meal. They also demanded to be allowed to use phones, MP3 player and that they will like to be going out five hours daily, among others.

The prison officials were said to have explained to the inmates that they had no such powers to grant those requests, and so will send the requests to the prison headquarters in Abuja which will look into them and reply, hence the need for them to be patient.

The leader of the inmates reportedly immediately disagreed with the prison officials, saying they had no such patience, and, therefore, threatened to revolt against the authorities.

Consequently, the authorities beefed up security around the two prison yards, but were caught napping as the later events turned out to be fatal.
Ahead of the fateful Thursday, the condemned inmates, according to sources, had packed their faeces and urine together and, as the day broke, they started throwing the faeces and pouring out urine at every prison official in sight and pandemonium erupted.

The condemned inmates were said to have broken loose, headed for the main gate and broke it down, thereby forcing themselves into the main compound of the prison yards. The incident were said to have occurred simultaneously in the two prison yards at a time senior officials were having their usual brief at their administrative office in the GRA, Ilorin.
Immediately they were alerted of the development, the confused officials called for reinforcement from sister security agencies in Kwara which bombarded the prison yards and overwhelmed the rampaging inmates. In the process, six of inmates reportedly died while seven others are still lying critically ill in hospital.
Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Prison Service, Kwara State,Mr Philips Adegbulugbe, said: “It is unfortunate that we lost six of the condemned inmates.”

He narrated how the incident happened: “It happened like this: On Tuesday, November 15,2016,the officer in charge of Oke-kura Prison, Ilorin, ASP Usman Aliu Baba, ran to the State Comptroller of Prisons and told him that inmates were trying to take over the prison from him, that they wanted to see the Comptroller who then ordered top officers of the prison command to lead him down there.

“When he got there, the Comptroller met them, talked to them and appealed that he would find alternative means of addressing their demands.
“The following day,the Comptroller went there again and discovered that the inmates had listed 14-point demand, and that if the Comptroller was unable to meet the demands within 24 hours, they will take over the prison .”

The prison spokesman listed the condemned inmates demands as follows: That the Comptroller should be opening them everyday between 8am and 2pm, and 4pm to 6pm whereas the Prison Act Cap P2P stipulates that condemned inmates can only be allowed to look around an hour per day and then return to the cell.
“So, on that day, on getting to the office,we learnt that the nmates had taken over the yard, that they had started to throw faeces at the staff,to the extent that they wanted to force themselves out of the yard. Two of our men were injured.
“In an attempt to curb the situation, our armed men were ordered to tear gas them, and we were able to put the situation under control. It was the following day that we discovered that some of them were not alright and we rushed them to hospital. It was in that process that six inmates lost their lives.”

As of the time of talking, he said the place was peaceful and calm.
Following the disturbance, the Minister of Interor, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazzau, visited Ilorin, and ordered investigation into the inmates riot.

The Minister directed an intra ministerial committee to work with Nigeria Prisons management team towards unravelling the remote circumstances surrounding the incident,in order to avoid the repeat of such in any of the nations’ prison yards and sanction any official found culpable.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State, who also visited the scene of the incident, canvassed urgent reforms of the prison systems in the country for the facilities to achieve the role of reforming prisoners before their re-entry into the society.

ICPC Recovers 103 Exotic Vehicles Looted By Government Officials

PERHAPS some people may not find this mind-blowing given that Nigerians have become accustomed to hearing about outrageous looting of the nation’s treasury by public officials.

But many would appreciate that even with the falling value of Nigeria’s currency, N450 million could save lives in the health sector where government hospitals in the country lack many equipment.

The quantum of money in question, if deployed in fixing the collapsed portions of the Benin/Ore Highway, could as well reduce the alarming rate of auto crashes on that road.

However, the systemic nature of corruption in the country ensured that the money, instead of being expended on common good, was used to purchase exotic vehicles and then converted to personal properties by some top public officials.

The discovery came to light in the course of an investigation by Sunday Vanguard into the activities of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission,ICPC.

The manner in which the misappropriation took place offers insight into how undermining some public officials had been to the Nigerian story. Some top officials of Ministries, Departments and Agencies,MDAs, were discovered to be chiefly involved in the matter.

Some top officials of Ministries, Departments and Agencies,MDAs, were discovered to be chiefly involved in the matter. Specifically, those affected were of the Ministries of Water Resources, Labour, Environment,Information and Health, Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, and Subsidy Reinvestment Programme, SURE-P.

Findings revealed that funds set aside by the SURE-P for execution of projects were used to procure vehicles by the MDAs.

Meanwhile, the vehicles were supposed to have been recorded as part of the properties of the MDAs in line with the procurement rules of the civil service.

It was also learnt that since the funds did not emanate from the budgetary allocation of the concerned MDAs, not recording the purchase of the 103 vehicles facilitated the appropriation by the officials.
