Fayose Sends Traditional Rulers To Beg Tinubu

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Peter Fayose has reportedly sent two Ekiti Monarchs to the National leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.
According to Osun defender, the unnamed traditional rulers who left Ekiti State to Lagos were mandated to meet with the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, who is expected to lead them to the former Lagos Governor whose political tactics and successes have continue to overwhelm the nation.
“We are on a peace mission. Governor Fayose has asked us to meet with Oba Akiolu who should open the door for us to see Asiwaju Tinubu. We know there are moves to impeach the governor; our role as traditional rulers is the look for a constructive way to end the crisis. If the Governor will be impeached, we do not want him to be disgraced again for the second time in office,” one of the first class traditional rulers told a journalist on Sunday.
The royal fathers are currently being lodged at a high-rate hotel in down town Lagos and are expected to meet with Oba of Lagos yesterday who will take them to Tinubu later in the night. The royal father who pleaded anonymity said the governor ‘is not arrogant. He has been misunderstood. We agree he made some mistakes, but there should be forgiveness and then Ekiti can move forward.”
When asked if their mission was to stop the impeachment, he said: “We want a peaceful resolution of the crisis. We want Asiwaju to intervene and give Fayose a safe landing.”
Fayose was on Friday served with impeachment notice by the 19 legitimate lawmakers who want him to respond to allegations of gross misconduct within the next seven days.
Also, the governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko was said to have met with Asiwaju few days before the election pleading with him to forgive and forget his misdeeds having seen the inevitable failure of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) at the March 28 election. But it was too late.
Meanwhile, the governor has embarked on barricading roads leading to the state capital, Ado-Ekiti, with buses, logs of wood and bonfires.

Impeachment: Buhari Needs To Help Fayose – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party leadership has revealed that Ekiti state Governor, Governor Ayo Fayose will reply to the impeachment notice allegedly served to him by members of the State House of Assembly.
The PDP said that the notice wasn’t properly served to the elected PDP governor.
Impeachment: Buhari Needs To Help Fayose – PDP
Gov. Ayodele Fayose
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Olisa Metuh, revealed this as he answered questions from reporters at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
Metuh said that it was wrong that members of the State House of Assembly whose tenure would expire soon, were bent on causing crisis in the state with their action.
He said, “Fayose would reply accordingly to the impeachment notice if the lawmakers follow due process.
“The governor will respond accordingly when they (lawmakers) do it properly.
“But why are these lawmakers, who have less than one month to leave, in a hurry to sack their governor?
“They have grown wings as soon as the result of the Presidential election was announced. It is immoral and undemocratic for a group of 19 lawmakers to put a state in chaos.”

He then surprisingly asked president-elect to intervene in the issue in order to to show that “he is truly a born again democrat.”

Akwa Ibom State Election Result Rigged, Jega's Silent. Why?

Inibehe Effiong, the convener of the Coalition of Human Rights Defenders, in his contribution to Naij.com explains why Akwa Ibom state needs the decisive actions from Prof Attahiru Jega, and what consequences may follow if the proper actions are not taken.
My first physical encounter with Prof Attahiru Jega, the INEC chairman, took place on Saturday, December 6, 2013, at Ugbegun, Esan Central local government area, Edo state, at the burial of former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof Festus Iyayi who was murdered by the reckless convoy of Kogi state Governor Idris Wada.
I relocated to Edo state for about a week to join other activists, comrades and public-spirited compatriots from all over the country to give our slain brother-in-the-struggle “a befitting burial”. On the day of the funeral, we were singing solidarity songs at the tomb of Iyayi when I noticed a tall, good-looking man wearing a white Hausa gown called “babariga”. Without being told, I recognized Prof Attahiru Jega.
During the interment, Prof Jega neither uttered a word nor exuded emotions, except the occasions he exchanged pleasantries with other sympathizers. I could see a well-mannered, quiet and decorous person who did not easily give in to the vicissitudes of life. My admiration for him soared immediately.
It was therefore not surprizing to me when Jega exuded equanimity on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, when Mr Godson Orubebe sought to undermine his hard-earned reputation with baseless allegations of bias and compromise during the collation of the presidential election results at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
After the successful conduct of March 28 presidential election applauded by Nigerians and the international community, the reputation of Prof Jega improved remarkably. However, the respect presently accorded to the INEC chairman may be short-lived owing to his worrisome disposition towards the evident, widely-reported and verifiable compromise of the INEC in Akwa Ibom state led by Mr Austin Okoji, the state resident electoral commissioner.
It is sickening that, despite the public outrage trailing the fraudulent conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections in Akwa Ibom state, the INEC chairman does not deem it pertinent to respond, even laconically, to the concerns and grievances expressed by the state residents, political parties, the media, election observers and other Nigerians. One is tempted to ask whether the INEC chairman has a special interest in Akwa Ibom state.
Despite the petitions sent to the INEC chairman by the concerned, particularly those of the leading political party in the state, the APC, there is still no indication that the leadership of the INEC has given a fair hearing to their pleas.
It is true that politicians do make baseless allegations against the staffs of the commission for political gains. However, it does not mean there are no bad eggs in the commission. According to the results of the presidential election in the state presented by Prof James Ekpoke, the state collation officer, Akwa Ibom state had 1, 644, 481 registered voters. Out of them, 1, 074, 070 voters were said to have been accredited, while 1, 017, 064 reportedly voted. The PDP was said to have scored 953, 304 votes, while the APC allegedly scored 58, 411 votes.
I wonder where the INEC has got such alarming figures. It is not acceptable that the results were not announced until about 10 a.m. of Tuesday, March 31, 2015 (three days after the conclusion of the election in the state). Also, Prof Jega had to stand down the announcement of the results by the state collation officer due to discrepancy in the summation of the results until the figures were reconciled.
During the March 28 election, the eligible voters were denied their franchise due to the INEC premeditated refusal to provide the ad hoc staff with the relevant election materials, especially the result sheets. In the majority of the polling units, voters waited endlessly and to no avail for the arrival of the ballot papers and result sheets. In some places, elections actually took place but there were no result sheets. In other places, the appointees of the state government went about with the police and military escorts harassing voters and steeling the materials.
For example, a serving commissioner in the state went about with the police and military escorts hijacking the materials in his local government. In the process, he reportedly shot dead Richard Frederick Okon, the APC supporter from Mbierebe Akpawat community in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA. This report has been neither denied nor investigated by the security agencies. It was later discovered that the materials were taken to the Village Hall in Nung Udoe, Ibesikpo LGA. Thousands of ballot papers cast for the APC were withdrawn. The APC agents then took custody of the withdrawn ballot papers. Evidence showing this was published by the Sahara Reporters.
The rigging was so carelessly conducted that the result sheets were not even supplied to the polling unit of the APC gubernatorial candidate of the state, Mr Umana Okon Umana, in Nsit Ubium LGA. The story was the same in most parts of the state.
The Premium Times has published a shocking video of the INEC staff colluding with the PDP agents to thump the ballot papers in the public during the last election in the state. We have also seen plenty of manipulation and fraud during the last poll in the state.
Surprisingly, the INEC leadership led by Prof Jega has not deemed it proper to investigate these documented and cogent facts of massive rigging of the electoral process. At the moment, the state is literally in flames due to the fear that Mr Austin Okojie, the state resident electoral commissioner, whose actions and inactions smacks of partisanship will still be the one to oversee the forthcoming gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections in the state.
The opposition has accused Mr Okojie, among others, of lodging in Davok Hotel, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, owned by Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, the state governor’s wife. Dr. Ime Umanah, a prominent statesman, went further to give the specific room numbers (268/269) in the hotel where the resident electoral commissioner (REC) was said to have stayed. Moreover, he revealed that upon discovery of the location, the REC was moved out of Davok Hotel to Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort by the state governor.
Late in the night on Sunday, April 5, 2015, the information concerning Mr Udom Emmanuel, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Akwa Ibom state, having a meeting with the INEC returning officers at R & R Restaurant went viral on the social media. The returning officers were allegedly offered N150, 000 each for “delivering” during the presidential and National Assembly polls with a promise that each of them would receive additional N500, 000 if they “delivered” during the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections.
The fact of the nocturnal meeting was revealed by one of the returning officers (a lecturer). Akwa Ibom state correspondent of one of the national newspapers has confirmed that he drove along the Babangida Avenue, where the meeting allegedly took place, and saw hundreds of vehicles and people at two places including the R & R Restaurant at the time the meeting allegedly took place.
These are serious allegations that shouldn’t be underestimated by the INEC chairman. At the moment, the reality is that the state resident electoral commissioner cannot be trusted to conduct the credible poll on April 11. He has become too controversial and embattled to be accepted as an umpire.
This is the same REC that refused to accredit local journalists in the state claiming that they were working for the opposition. It took three days of vigil at the state INEC headquarters by insistent local journalists before the REC bowed to pressure and accredited them.
So why is Prof Jega still silent and unconcerned about the precarious situation in Akwa Ibom state? Is Akwa Ibom state not significant to be warranted a decisive action by the INEC chairman? Are the facts and reports of compromise against the state REC not credible enough to justify the proper reaction of the INEC chairman? Definitely, there is more to it than meets the eye.
I humbly advise Prof Jega to make sweeping changes in the commission before April 11 elections in the country. It is only right and expedient for the INEC chairman to redeploy the RECs and other senior officials of the commission in the states where the March 28 poll was marred by irregularities and controversies. Anything short of this may spell doom on our nascent democracy and may tarnish the reputation of the commission.
The media, human rights communities, local and international observers should take note and follow closely the worrisome situation in Akwa Ibom state. Prof Jega should rise above any primordial consideration and defend the integrity of the INEC and the electoral process in Akwa Ibom state.
The time to act is now!

Deeper Life’s Kumuyi Has A Message For Buhari

The General Overseer, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi has spoken up about president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the polls last week.
According to the renowned pastor, General Muhammadu Buhari has a lot to prove his victory is indeed the handiwork of God.
While speaking at the National Easter Retreat of the church last weekend, Pastor Kumuyi said, now that Muhammad Buhari has been elected as the President of Nigeria, he has to fulfill all the promises he made to Nigerians during the campaign period.
Kumuyi said the church would however back the new president with prayers to be able to deliver on his promise to fight corruption and insurgency.
In his words: “Nigeria has been plagued by so many difficulties and problems. Like I said, we have been praying. The church has been praying and God has been answering our prayers. We will continue praying for the incoming president so that God will grant him wisdom to handle the affairs of this country from May 29, 2015.”
“So, the prayers of the church is that the President-elect will know what God wants him to do for Nigeria so that he will be able to face the responsibilities and carry them out so that at the end of his tenure, we will be able to say, of a truth, this is God’s handiwork. The church will continue to pray for the President and the President-elect,” He said.
On the results of the General Election, he said “We are grateful to God. The children of God have been praying, even though we did not know what would be the outcome. But the result is what we see today. We have peace. We had wonderful elections and the outcome of the elections did not result in burning of houses and killing of innocent people. The nation is at peace with itself. So, we really thank God for what He has done for us as a nation.
“Even our international counterparts never expected that things would go this way. Our God is an all-knowing God. He knows where He is taking us to and even though each of us has his/her own thought, the Bible says God knows the end from the beginning. All the things that gave us fear and anxiety, He knew how to quell them. So, the election came and the election has gone. We heard the result.
“The pronouncement of President Goodluck Jonathan conceding defeat to Gen. Buhari is significant and gets to be written in the book of records, not just in Nigeria, but in the whole world. As you can see, many people have been sending goodwill messages to Nigeria, appreciating what President Jonathan did. This is the first time a sitting president, who conceded defeat, has acknowledged that defeat and congratulated his opponent,” he stated.

Nigeria's Ex-Commerce Minister jailed in UK

Nigeria’s first female chartered accountant, former minister of commerce and tourism and boardroom guru, Chief Bola Kuforiji-Olubi, is currently in a United Kingdom prison where she is serving out a one-month jail term for contempt.
Nigeria's Ex-Commerce Minister jailed in UK
Chief Bola Kuforiji-Olubi
According to Ships & Ports daily, Kuforiji-Olubi was convicted on February 18 by Justice Michael Burton of the Commercial Division of the High Court of Justice Queens Branch Division for disobeying the orders of the court.
The former minister, who was ordered to be remanded at Her Majesty’s Prison Holloway, got herself in jail when she attempted to repeat in London the levity with which high-profile individuals usually treat court orders in Nigeria.
Her son, Olutokunbo Afolabi Kuforiji, who is said to be allegedly on the run, was equally sentenced to four months’ imprisonment, and ordered to be remanded at Her Majesty’s Prison Pentonville from the day of apprehension.
The duo and their firm, Phoenixtide Offshore Nigeria Limited, were equally ordered to pay the plaintiff, Tidewater Marine International Inc., an accumulated sum of 300,000 British pounds as cost for the litigation and indemnity, before March 23.
It is understood that trouble started for Kuforiji-Olubi when 10 years ago, Tidewater Marine International Inc. began a relationship with Phoenix Oceanlines Nigeria Limited, a business owned by the former minister, to form a company called Phoenixtide Offshore Nigeria Limited, also owned by her and her family.
By the terms of the non-exclusive agreement, Phoenixtide was expected to provide some local support services, while Tidewater provided the most costly elements including technical services, the vessels and access to international oil companies.
Key aspects of the agreement included a marketing commission payable to Phoenixtide on all transactions carried out by the collaboration, while all payments due from the services rendered were to be made to Tidewater, after which the commission due to Phoenixtide would be paid.
The parties also agreed that any disputes that might arise between them would be submitted to the High Court in England for determination under English law, especially since both Kuforiji-Olubi and her son, Olutokunbo, the managing director of Phoenixtide are British citizens.
Further findings revealed that between 2008 and 2012, there were attempts to restructure the relationship in an effort to make it more mutually beneficial and in line with Nigerian extant laws.
However, these efforts were unsuccessful as Phoenixtide insisted on getting more from the deal.
This ultimately ended up in a severed business relationship between Tidewater and Phoenixtide in the fall of 2012.
Despite clear directives issued by the High Court in London, Kuforiji-Olubi and her son, Olutokunbo, both refused to comply with the court’s orders, and proceedings for contempt of court were commenced against both of them.
Neither she nor her son were present for the initial hearing for their contempt. However, through their lawyers, they claimed to have been unaware of the action until recently, and were apologetic and asked for more time to respond.
The judge allowed them more time but also required that they pay the unpaid and outstanding legal costs as ordered, which they also owed from the previous litigation.
Kuforiji-Olubi and Olutokunbo then took every step they could to postpone and delay and/or prevent the next hearing and did not pay the costs.
Approximately six months later, when the contempt proceedings resumed, the former minister and Olutokunbo were required to be at this hearing, but neither came.
It was reported that the reason they gave the court was that Kuforiji-Olubi was ill in Lagos and that Olutokunbo had to remain at her side 24 hours a day.
The arguments their lawyers made were unpersuasive and Justice Burton found both Kuforiji-Olubi and Olutokunbo to be in contempt.
He consequently ordered a warrant for their arrest and sentenced Kuforiji-Olubi to one month in prison and Olutokunbo to four months in prison.
However, the judge set a condition that if arrested they should be brought to court immediately and be given an opportunity to explain themselves and purge their contempt, and hopefully avoid prison.
Checks further revealed that approximately one month later information reached the authorities that Kuforiji-Olubi was in the United Kingdom.
They visited her home in London and found her there but she was not arrested based on her claim to be quite ill. The judge then held a hearing to determine her ability to stand trial before him.
Kuforiji-Olubi had, through statements made by her lawyers to the court, claimed she was essentially bed-ridden, used a wheelchair, and could only leave her residence for doctors’ appointments.
However, contrary to this claim, she had been spotted shopping and walking in London on the same day of the hearing.
Further evidence and an admission from her lawyers showed that she was actually in the United Kingdom during the earlier court hearings contrary to her claim of being sick and bedridden in Lagos.
Believing that it had been deliberately misled, the court ordered her immediate arrest and appearance in person.
During the hearing, the judge invited her to simply comply with the court order and issue the letter. In response, she claimed to no longer have the power to do such as she had since resigned her chairmanship of the board of Phoenixtide and distributed her shares to members of her family.
Despite all the foregoing, the judge still wanted to avoid having to send her to prison, and he asked if her son, Olutokunbo, would sign the letter and if she would ask him to.
The judge allowed some time for this to happen but unfortunately she returned, stating that Olutokunbo had indicated that he would not, and Kuforiji-Olubi gave no indication that she objected to Olutokunbo’s decision.
Despite the exhaustive patience demonstrated by the judge up till this point, the court had no other option than to commit her to jail to serve her sentence.
However, the court still left the door open for Olutokunbo to resolve this issue by issuing the letter directed by the court, but to date he has not taken any steps to comply with the court’s order and secure his mother’s release from prison, and remains a fugitive from the law as far as the United Kingdom is concerned.
Contempt of court, often referred to simply as “contempt”, is the offence of being disobedient to or disrespectful towards a court of law and its officers in the form of behaviour that opposes or defies the authority, justice, and dignity of the court.

How World Leaders Plotted Jonathan's Defeat

OUTGOING President Goodluck Jonathan lost his re-election bid several weeks before the March 28 poll to a web of plots hatched at home and honed abroad, Saturday Tribune has reliably learnt.

Information also in possession of Saturday Tribune revealed a last-minute contest between forces that wanted him to bow out and those that wanted him to hold out for as long as necessary even when it was evident that the news from the field pointed at a possible defeat.
It was learnt that as of 5.00 p.m. on Tuesday, hawks around the president were still at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, piling pressure on him not to concede defeat.

Those working on him to concede and bow out, reportedly led by a former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, were also said to have stayed put in the same Presidential Villa, persuading him that it was the most honourable way to go since it was clear that figures from the field were not in his favour.

The drama in the Presidential Villa was also said to be closely monitored by combined international forces that had concluded on post-Jonathan presidency, reportedly led by the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

One of those around the president persuading him to stay put was said to be a General in the army from a not-too-core Northern state, reportedly assuring him that the alleged irregularities in the North, underage voters, among other issues, which were beamed live by a national television station and shown on the Cable News Network (CNN) would be enough ground for him to reject the outcome.

The president was also allegedly told that he would be making General Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) heroes by conceding to them, because all the good works he had done which were nearing fruition would blossom during their reign and would count as their achievements.

He reportedly told them that no matter how long he stayed in office, he would still leave one day and since crisis was certain to herald his opposition to the outcome, he would be reneging on his promise that no Nigerian blood would be worth his political ambition.

Convinced that it was the way to go, the president reportedly took “his own” by surprise by making the now-famous phone call to Buhari without telling them, although they were present at the president’s abode.

He was also said to have played a fast one on the hawks by making the call before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Buhari as the winner, following his assessment of the figures available to him, while those pressurising him to hang on reportedly thought the concession would be after the announcement by the electoral body as is usually the practice.

The western world, according to available information, keyed into the Buhari presidency project months before the election and the refusal to sell arms to Nigeria to fight the Boko Haram insurgency by Washington was said to be mainly predicated on the likelihood of Jonathan’s administration using same to quell possible civil disobedience if he manipulated the results to remain in power.

With political forces in the nation led by former President Olusegun Obasanjo reportedly concluded on getting him out at all cost, the western world, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom, were said to have been persuaded into the project on two main planks; corruption and insecurity.

Settled that Jonathan’s administration had been underwhelming in performance in those two critical areas and convinced that the incumbent was bent on retaining his job, the international coalition allegedly undermined his administration as much as possible, with allies elsewhere, including Africa, also allegedly brought into the Jonathan-must-go project.

A source pointed at two main happenings in the course of the election to show how deeply the international community was involved, while making the outgoing president to be at ease, despite the rug being pulled off his feet.

The US and the UK had been at the forefront of peace pacts across the nation, starting with Jonathan and Buhari in what came to be known as Abuja Peace Accord, with Jonathan’s government having to react angrily at a point at the perceived temerity with which top diplomats from the western world were handling peace pacts and activities regarding the electoral process.

“They almost became a parallel government in Nigeria. That is what you get when a leader is too pacifist,” a source in the government said.

The unprecedented joint statement by the US Secretary of State, John Kerry and British Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, overtly accusing Jonathan’s camp of moves to tamper with the incoming results of the presidential election was seen as the final move by them to show the side they were on in the contest.

The government source noted that APC was always calling on the international community to wade in when accusing Jonathan’s government of plots to manipulate the elections, because an understanding existed between them after Buhari’s appearance at Chatham House and his famous interview with the CNN.

After the field job was done and figures confirmed Jonathan’s loss, those behind the plot to ease him out and save the country from chaos were said to have moved to the last stage in the presidential contest, which was to persuade him to accept defeat, since his refusal of same could ignite the South-South and South-East and possible bloody attacks on Northerners in such states.
A predictable reprisal in the North was projected as possible fulfilment of the feared break-up. The oil interests of those western nations in the Niger-Delta also reportedly necessitated a negotiated peaceful exit for him by persuading him to accept defeat and assurance obtained from Buhari that Jonathan would face no harassment out of office.
Having fulfilled his own part, Buhari had also fulfilled his with public pronouncement that Jonathan had nothing to fear under his administration, while engaging in peace preachment to his supporters.

Apart from obtaining assurance from Buhari, the western world would also lead in global praise of Jonathan, aimed at attenuating the pains of making the wrong history of being the first defeated incumbent, while leading opposition figures were also said to be under firm instruction not to attack him in any ways until he steps down on May 29.

The US and UK were particularly said to have completely bought into the anti-Jonathan project following his decision to turn to Russia for purchase of arms, with a diplomat in foreign service saying that it would have been better for Jonathan to completely move over to Russia’s side instead of playing in the middle.
According to him, “whoever advised him to purchase arms from Russia when a real war was on with the United States misled the president. You don’t even do that during the Cold War, let alone during this “Hot War.” There was no way US intelligence circle would forgive a big nation like Nigeria making such diplomatic faux pas.

“These security experts have serious leverage over American presidents. Regardless of any friendship that could be between (American president, Barack) Obama and Jonathan, when such security goons say it is time for a leader of a nation to go, American presidents hardly say no and, obviously, Jonathan had no serious pact with (Russian president, Vladimir) Putin, beyond buying arms.”

Since the presidential election result was announced, President Obama had issued about three press statements on the outcome, Jonathan’s concession and the need for the two leaders to keep preaching peace to their supporters as well as asking that finest democratic ideals should be upheld in the conduct of the April 11 governorship election.

A government source explained that Obama’s unusual interest in the governorship election was borne out of fears that Jonathan might take his frustration of loss out on the process and tamper with it in a way to give his party, which would be in opposition from May 29, an edge in governorship spread by winning as many states as possible.

In days ahead, it was gathered that beyond the phone calls, Jonathan may be visiting the United States as a special guest of Obama which, an insider said, is aimed at retaining him as the face of peace offering to the Niger-Delta, which is feared could become the breeding ground for fifth columnists that would make the nation’s economy unmanageable for Buhari.

Governor Fayose Tries To Escape Impeachment

The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, is trying to escape being impeached by legitimate legislators from Ekiti state for gross misconduct.

The governor has embarked on barricading roads leading to the state capital, Ado-Ekiti, with buses, logs of wood and bonfires.

Fayose first vanished from the state capital to avoid being served with the impeachment notice published by Sahara Reporters saying he had not seen the notification.

Sources told journalists that since losing the presidential polls on March 28, 2015, President Goodluck Jonathan has declined to allow army and police officers to continue their support of Fayose’s impunity in the state. President Jonathan is supposedly busy packing to leave the presidential office in preparation for civilian life.

Overnight, several parts of Ado-Ekiti were locked down by assistants of the Ekiti governor, who had promised to fight legislators, led by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, from coming to the state capital to start Fayose’s impeachment. The Speaker has pledged to begin and conclude the impeachment of the governor as soon as possible.

Nineteen All Progressives Congress legislators in the state House of Assembly have begun moves for impeachment proceedings against governor Fayose and gave him seven days to respond.
The lawmakers listed eight impeachable offences against the governor. These comprised a supposed invasion of the House of Assembly with thugs and miscreants, instigating an unconstitutional takeover of the House by seven legislators to sit in contravention of Section 96(2) of the 1999 Constitution, and preventing the 19 APC legislators from performing their duties with the use of security agents and armed thugs.
In turn governor Fayose said the lawmakers should first impeach God. He added that the people of Ekiti would defend his mandate against those he described as political usurpers whom the people had denied twice in the last nine months.
Scores of supporters of the Ekiti governor blocked the access roads to the state House of Assembly complex on April 6, Monday, to protest at the impeachment proccedings against Fayose.
Fayose was the PDP flag bearer in the June 2014 governorship poll in Ekiti state. He won the election and was inaugurated on October 16, 2014.

Miss Agwu works as a cleaner with Patovilki, a concessionaire handling the cleaning of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Vanguard starts. On her ordinary working day the woman found $28,000 and other foreign currencies totaling about N12m in one of the toilets. She never kept this money and did not even think about it, but refunded the whole sum to the owner.
Josephine confesses she has no regrets over her decision as she is sure it was the right one.
Interestingly, the woman was badly mocked in social media by some users who called her mad and silly.
The Lagos State House of Assembly, last Monday, concluded plans to invite and honour Ms Agwu. While her employer increased her salary from N7,800 to N15,000 monthly.
Speaking about the consequences of her decision, the cleaner said:
“On the part of my management, they are happy, all my supervisors. In short, they are doing good things for me. Now, they carry me like egg, even my MD.”
When the owner returned after his money, he counted and realized that the whole sum was present, he simply looked at Agwu and walked away. For the woman, it was already the third time she had returned lost bags with big money inside.

Some considered Josephine Agwu mad
Josephine Ugwu revived the experience and spoke about her feelings:
“I am from Enugu State, from Obonkpa in Nsukka Local Government. I live at Agbotukunyo in Agege. The incident happened on the 23rd of January 2015. I was on morning duty. So as I was sweeping around 6:30pm, I saw the bag on the ground and there were some passengers there so I thought that the bag could belong to one of them. But as I closed at 7:20pm, the person to relieve me on duty came that time.”

“I was going to the toilet again, I saw the same bag there. Then I told the passengers sitting there that they should be mindful of the bag because once they announce the flight they may forget it. They replied that the bag did not belong to them. Three of the passengers left, so I then picked the bag and took it to the FAAN security people. At first, they put the bag on the screening machine, before they opened the bag and discovered that there were many envelops in the bag containing money in different currencies including dollars.

“As they were counting it, I saw an NDLEA woman accompanied by one man and both of them were coming towards us. They said that the man could be the owner of the bag. So when they came in, they interviewed the man and the man mentioned the amount of money and the colour of the bag. Before then, they had counted the money and it was exactly the amount that the man said.

“Then they carried the money and gave to the man for him to count. After counting, they asked him if the money was complete, he said yes and they snapped him picture. They asked him again about three times and they told the man that, ‘look at the woman that picked your bag’, and the man was looking at me. His name is Mr. Obinna Samuel. They told him that he should thank his God that if it were another person, that person would have run away with the bag but this woman didn’t do that. So I left and the man took the money and put inside the bag and went away.

The humble worker worthy of emulation
“Then FAAN [Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria] security personnel called me back, and they took my number On-Duty-Card (ODC) and my name. That was how it happened. People are praising me, FAAN said that they are going to give me automatic employment but I have not heard from them till now.”
The Patovilki administration, represented by Eunice Anumudu, Manager, Airport Zone, said in an interview given over the weekend:
“Since the incident, people have been reacting to it and they have been praising her for what she has done, and that she did well and several people have been calling her.
“My own impression as a manager is that she did well because that is what we told them at the initial time that she was searching for the job. We told her that as you are looking for this job, the salary is too small. Can you do the work? She said ‘yes’, so we told her that anywhere we put you, you have to behave well because this is an airport. We have many ogas here, you don’t know who is who. If they ask you question that you cannot answer, you look for the supervisor or the manager to answer the question.

Praised and respected for her noble move
“Wherever we post you and anything that you see there, don’t take it home. Take it to the security because that thing does not belong to us. It is the passenger that has it. You know, some of the passengers, when they travel, some of them will leave their bags and sometimes phones in the toilet.
“So, we told them to behave well, respect everybody. Since this incident happened, she has not been promoted to a supervisor or other higher position, but we contacted our Managing Director and what she did was to increase her salary. The MD was happy about what Miss Josphine Ugwu. She has agreed to increase her salary from N7,800 to N15,000.”
Commenting on the negative reactions by some Nigerians to her move, Josephine said that people should appreciate what they have.
“People do a lot of bad things because they are not happy with what they have. With the little I earn, I try to manage it well. If I can’t manage that small money that I earn, even if I begin to earn N1 million, I will still not know how to manage it.
“So, I am telling every Nigerian to be happy in any situation they find themselves. Don’t be faster than your shadow because so many things will go wrong. Sometimes things get bad because people want to be like others. All fingers are not equal. It is true that God promised those who serve him riches, but people should be careful how they go about it. I am telling people to have patience. It is because people want quick money that is why some people become thieves.
“On the part of my management, in fact they are happy, all my supervisors. In short they are doing good things for me, even they are carrying me like egg, even my MD. They have added money to my salary. In short, my manager, Madam Eunice has been doing many things for me since the incident, praising me. She said that she knows that she can trust me, and that I cannot see anything that does not belong to me and I take it away.”
See how people reacted to Josephine’s story. In general, social media exploded with praise, but not all the users commended the move. Some even alleged that she had not stolen the money because of cameras.
Clara K. Mallah: My dear sister, God was already bless you. The world has reconginzed you including your govt. The rest of your riches are in heaven. Let God continue to keep you.
Godstime Ediaefresh: You will remain poor for life die for cleaning you here.
John Samuel: THAT a gud CITIZEN.YOU WILL HAVE more than that 12Million in jesus name AMEN. If u are a gud citizen and u know u can do it just like this.
Pat Mabasa: She feared d cameras dt wil lead her to impronment.
Michael Etim: No matter how many in and out painted Nigeria black, there are still good Nigerians with outstanding characters that’s worthy of emulation. May God promote this woman and increase her with more wisdom to excel in our line of duty. A real woman indeed.
Agu James Chidiebere: I have seen that she is destined to be poor……….Opportunity comes but once and she have missed it.#Rubbish
