Robbers Write Lagos Residents To Pay Christmas Dues!!

Some suspected armed robbers have written some Lagos residents urging them to prepare to pay season’s dues to them on a date not mentioned. Residents of Joseph Harrison Estate, Yaba area of Lagos State got the letter from the bandits on Wednesday notifying them of their impending attack to collect their “dues” for the festive season.

NAN gathered that the letter was placed on the vehicle of one of the residents and was discovered in the morning when he was about to wash his car. ”We are coming this week to collect our dues and to visit you tenants and landlords of Joseph Harrison Street in the week. If you like go and bring police or soldiers, we are coming to perform our duties. ”If you cooperate, we will not kill, but if you fail to cooperate, blood will flow,” the letter said. NAN check at the estate on Tuesday revealed that sterner security measures have been put in place to protect lives and properties in the community.

Mr Bolanle Akinyemi, Chairman, Community Development Association said the estate had enjoyed some peace for a long while as it was protected by guards and the police from Sabo Police Post. ”We are also mindful of the slum that surrounds us and we have been conscious of suspected criminals,” he said. ”No one has received such letter before, but there was a case in 2013 when a company in the estate was robbed,” he said.

The chairman said they have reported the threat to Sabo Police Division and more guards have been engaged at the estate. Concerned residents urged the commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni to deploy more men to patrol the estate regularly.

15 Lucrative Business Ideas That Will Take Center Stage In 2017

A lot has happened in 2016 - smart entrepreneurs have made money, outstanding entrepreneurs picked up awards and grants, Tech entrepreneurs raised so much in investment funding, 2016 has been good and bad for businesses for different reasons. Now we look at 2017.

The good thing about 2017 is a lot of people will find new, creative ways of doing old businesses, and that will be the beauty of it. You can have your own brand of products in your own brand name without doing any of the production yourself, for example. You can enter the real estate business without spending huge sums of money, and so on. This is why 2017 will be a lucrative year for smart entrepreneurs. Let’s get right to it.

TOP 15 HOT BUSINESS IDEAS FOR 2017

1. AGRICULTURE BUSINESS IDEAS
Agriculture has been rightly promoted as one important channel for our country to bounce back on her feet and regain her former economic glory. Young people are realizing this and are doing their best to key in and prosper. To make this work, government should provide resources and incentives to encourage more young people into agriculture.

2. ANIMAL FEED PRODUCTION BUSINESS
People worry so much about starting animal production business; only a few see the huge potentials in animal feed production. Fish must eat to grow, right? Don’t wait till you have a big factory. A friend of mine made huge profits this year in animal feed. He would visit noodles production factories and make a deal to buy off the waste product of noodles (the broken, no-use ones). He would then supply them to fish farmers as feed. He has no company or factory, just his resourcefulness and ingenuity, and he makes very good money. Animal feed is good business, more so in 2017.

3. WASTE RECYCLING
So much has been said about the environment this year. Big players like the US and China are going big about safeguarding the environment. True, Nigeria may not have gotten to the point where we cut our fossil fuel reliance and go completely green. But Nigerian entrepreneurs are not giving up. Waste recycling is a good project for the environment.

4. PAPER BAG PRODUCTION
Still on the environment, I expect plastic bags to gradually go out of use from 2017 (maybe not that immediate but bound to happen at some point); they are not good for the environment. Paper bags have got good shouts in other African countries with nations like South Africa, Morocco, Rwanda, Uganda, etc all imposing a ban on plastic bags. How long before our beloved Nigeria follows suit? No matter how long it takes, investing in paper bag production will be worth it.

5. ONLINE TUTORIAL
Blogging is not the only way you can establish yourself as an expert and make money out of your knowledge. Many people now take online courses to make up for the knowledge they could not get in the classroom. There is a big opportunity in this niche. If you can deliver tutorials on topics people are interested in learning, people will gratefully pay you to learn them. Starting your own online tutorials does not take much. For a start you can sign up as an instructor on Udemy and later, develop your own blog/platform.

6. REAL ESTATE
Every year is a good year for real estate business. 2017 will not be an exception. The major drawback in real estate business is the amount of capital it requires for startup. There’s a way around it. Oluwatobi Oladele delivered a lecture on how you can start your own lucrative real estate business with very little capital. So why not give it a go in 2017?

7. MOBILE FOOD VENDING BUSINESS
If you love cooking, mobile food vending will be a good and lucrative way to get into the catering business in 2017. The Igwe Brothers started Speedmeals Mobile Kitchen in 2010; they agree that in 2016, the market is still as open as ever. I expect more caterers to go mobile in 2017 because people will appreciate having their food brought to them. The major challenge with this, as with any food business, is getting peoples’ trust. You do this with proper hygiene, tasty meals and timely, consistent delivery. It will also put a lot of ‘mama put’ on their toes to improve their quality of their cooking.

8. ECOMMERCE
Jumia and Konga had a hard time convincing people to shop online. Now that hesitance is finally giving way. Other players like jiji and Kaymu are making their shouts. More will follow suit in 2017. You too can get your share of the pie in the eCommerce industry. You don’t even need to have your own eCommerce store as you can sell your goods on any of the existing platforms. It’s a good deal because they already have the medium, the brand and traffic. You simply list your goods and you are good to go. If your business is not online in 2017, I’m afraid you would be swimming against the current.

9. LOGISTICS/COURIER BUSINESS
The increase in eCommerce businesses will open doors for more delivery/courier companies to emerge. If you are shipping goods from Owerri to Lagos, someone has to deliver them. Cost of shipping is a hindrance to eCommerce business in Nigeria. More delivery companies will provide healthy competition, forcing down prices. This is a good thing. How to start a small courier company? Read this article.

10. ONLINE MARKETING
Take your pick: blogging, freelancing, information marketing, affiliate marketing, there are plenty. More people will make more money online in 2017 than they did in 2016. It is no longer a secret that people make full income on the internet. By the way, if you plan on starting a blog in 2017, I wrote an article on top 18 blog topic ideas that should make you the most money. Check it out and let me know what you think.

11. TECH BUSINESS
The Nigerian tech industry is in the spotlight for many good reasons. We have seen Nigerians develop award winning apps like OkadaBooks, Find-A-Med, BudgIT, AfriNolly, etc. Because the tech industry is proving very lucrative, more people will look to explore their creative tech side in 2017. Tech bloggers like OgbongeBlog and NaijaTechGuide have been making money for a long time now. I expect more people to follow their lead in 2017. This is a brilliant opportunity for the tech person.

12. PROGRAMMING/CODING TUTORIALS
There are two ways to make money through what you know: you can do what you know and you can teach people how to do what you know. For our tech industry to keep booming, people will need ways to learn coding/programming.

13. TRANSPORTATION
Like real estate, every year will always be a good year for transportation. Uber has challenged the way transportation works in Nigeria and now we see startups like FindMyRide and GoMyWay creating innovations in the transport sector. Taxi drivers are no longer the old men driving rickety cars, polluting everywhere with smoke. You too can make money in transportation. The opportunities are endless.

14. LOCAL PRODUCTION
When Governor Ayade of Cross River state unveiled the Calabar garment factory in September, 2016, it became further proof that local production is the way to go as opposed to importation. Tissue paper production, soap production, toothpicks, matches, cement, I cannot begin to list all the things you can make money from producing in Nigeria. Our import sector has taken a huge hit following our FOREX problems. Many importers would rather settle to producing things locally instead of paying exorbitant rates on importation.

15. PRIVATE LABELING
Private labeling means you don’t have to spend huge amounts on machinery or factory before you have something produced in your name. Entrepreneur Dilim Okeke made a convincing case for private labeling in her new book, Business Big Time. It is a book every entrepreneur should read. It details new and affordable ways of getting into the production business without spending tons of money.

Bishop Obinim: "I Enlarge Men’s Joysticks, Women’s Butt After Touching Them"

Controversial Ghanaian pastor and founder of International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has again stirred up controversies after he said he can enlarge a man’s joystick by just using his hands.

He said he has the power to offer anything a human being needs, adding that he could also make women’s butt bigger.

In a scene broadcast on Obinim TV that has now gone viral on YouTube, the pastor was seen touching men by their joystick and uttering some words.

His members queued up with their hands raised while he administered the ‘miraculous touch.’

He said, “If you do not like the looks of any part of your body, come to me, what do you want that I can’t offer?

“If you want big buttocks, I can do it for you, if you want big breasts, I can help. If you have a small manhood, I can change them all when I come to the spiritual realm.

NIGERIA:A SELF DECEIVING COUNTRY

A SELF DECEIVING COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA

Twenty-one senators currently receiving pensions from government as ex-governors and deputy governors.

The current senators who once served as governors are Bukola Saraki of Kwara, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Kabiru Gaya of Kano, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Theodore Orji of Abia, Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa, Sam Egwu of Ebonyi, Shaaba Lafiagi of Kwara, Joshua Dariye of Plateau Jonah Jang of Plateau, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto, Ahmed Sani Yarima of Zamfara, Danjuma Goje of Gombe, Bukar Abba Ibrahim of Yobe, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi, George Akume of Benue and Isiaka Adeleke of Osun.

The  former deputy governors in the Senate are Ms Biodun Olujimi of Ekiti and Enyinaya Harcourt Abaribe of Abia. Danladi Abubakar Sani served as the acting governor of Taraba state.

Many former governors are also in Buhari's Cabinet as Ministers. This includes: Ngige, Fayemi, Amaechi and Fashola (SAN).).

In Akwa Ibom State, the law provides that ex governors and deputy governors receive pension equivalent to the salaries of the incumbent. The package also includes a new official car and a utility vehicle every four years; one personal aide; a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding N5 million per month and N2.5 million for his deputy governor.

In Rivers, the law provides 100 percent of annual basic salaries for the ex-governor and deputy, one residential house for the former governor “anywhere of his choice in Nigeria”; one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for the ex-governor every four years and two cars for the deputy every four years.

It is alledged that in Lagos, a former governor will get two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja, estimated at N500 million in Lagos and N700 million in Abuja. He also receives six new cars to be replaced every three years; a furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary to be paid every two years, and a N30 million pension annually for life.

This is the reality for all the 21 ex govenors and deputy governors who are currently serving as senators. This same is also true of ex governors who are now serving as Ministers.

NOW I ASK:
How many years did these guys serve their states as governors and deputy governors? Is it more than 8years? Is that a reason to be entitled to pensions for life? Even if they are entitled to pension for life, must it be so outrageous?

As if that is not enough: HOW on earth can any public servant with conscience collect salaries and allowances as a senator or minister, and still have the audacity to claim pensions equivalent to the salaries of a serving governor in Nigeria?

IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE......

Once you are elected a senator or appointed a minister, you must forfeit any pension accruing to you from government at any level until you vacate office. This should also apply to senators collecting military pensions like former Senate President David Mark.

Yet these senators are in the Senate that is inviting the current finance minister to discuss the recession of Nigeria's economy. A senator pockets approximately 30 million naira monthly as salary and allowances. Our "honourables" are not interested to make laws that could restructure our country into economically autonomous federating States/Regions to save the country from sectional agitations that is threatening  to destroy Nigeria. The sad and hopeless situation is that the rest of Nigerians are busy arguing based on party, ethnic and affiliations while these enemies of state continue to rape us.

Do you know that it costs tax payers 290m Naira yearly to maintain each member of our National Assembly in a country where nothing works & 80% of population earn below 300 Naira a day ? A working day earning of a senator is more than a yearly income of a doctor; it's more than the salary of 42 Army generals or 48 professors or 70 commissioners of police or more than twice the pay of the US President or 9 times the salary of US congressmen.

It's high time the country had a referendum on those outrageous salaries of Senators, House of Representative members and other political office holders.

BUHARI ON RESCUE MISSION

BUHARI HAS COME TO RESCUE NIGERIA:

Okonjo Iweala, a woman that had seen it all came  out to say at an American conference that the SEED OF THIS  RECESSION WAS PLANTED DURING THE JONATHAN REGIME DUE TO THEIR LACK OF FINANCIAL DISCIPLINE, INABILITY AND LACK OF POLITICAL WILL TO SAVE.
People should not blame jonathan alone for this because the profligate Nigerian Governors too are culpable. He attempted to save, but the governors demanded to take all the savings citing constitutional right. Money they took and stole at the same time. Our case is pathetic.

Do you know that:
😀Obasanjo's administration earned #17trn from crude oil sales within eight years and left behind 45bn dollars external reserves and 3.348bn dollars external debt.

😀Yaradua grew the reserves to 64bn dollars within just one year and the administration was able to finance 15 months of imports despite the 2008/2009 world economic meltdown. Hence, Nigeria survived the melt down because of the political will by the administration to save (a great achievement by Yaradua which most Nigerians are not aware of). Despite the tough economic reality at that time, Yaradua left 47.7bn dollars in reserves and an external debt of 3.94bn dollars. Meanwhile, the administration earned only # 9trn from crude oil sales within that short period.

😀Now, Jonathan administration witnessed an oil boom when Brent crude sold for over 100 dollars/barrel, with the regime earning # 51trn within a period of 5years. But because of corruption, the administration did not only squander the oil revenue but even depleted the reserves left by Yaradua, leaving just 32bn dollars and a huge external debt of 63bn dollars for Buhari.

The same Brent crude sold for as low as 35 dollars/barrel at a point shortly after Buhari took over power and had only managed to climb to about 48 dollars just recently.

😀These are facts that can be verified. So, it's amazing hearing people criticize Buhari for the hunger in the land.

😀According to Fashola, Buhari's administration inherited 206 uncompleted road projects and contract arrears worth #2.1trn from Jonathan; and for about 2 to 3 years the contractors where not paid. This slowed down the economic activities, with most of the companies laying off their staff. This was when the seed of recession was sowed.

It's obvious that Buhari came in to rescue Nigeria, because if Jonathan had continued in power, the nation's economic crisis would have been worse, perhaps even the Federal government wouldn't have been able to pay salaries of civil servants by now.

😀According to Okonjo Iweala, Nigeria started borrowing money to pay salaries since October, 2014; but today Nigeria now borrow money for investment in capital projects.

😀Those who blame Buhari for the current hardship do so either out of mischief (hatred) or ignorance. So, we shouldn't join the bandwagon in criticising him. He may not have done much to save the situation, considering that he is not a perfect human being but he means well for the country and can only succeed with our prayers.

😀May Almighty God continue to guide  Buhari Administration and Nigerians in general.

😀Why not share this piece with others for the sake of enlightenment and conscious prayers for our nation. We have the responsibility to enlighten others. Mischievous, ignorant people/politicians should not drag us backwardation
