Governor Mimiko Blackmailing Ondo Teachers To Vote For Jonathan

According to the disgusted teacher who asked not to be named, “They educated us on what we've known. Telling us history. They thought we are happy sitting and some people standing while they are vibrating, telling us lies.” One of the teachers disclosed that while some teachers were given N400, during yesterday's campaign they were each given N100 by Mimiko's team.Governor Olusegun Mikiko
Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko, is trying to blackmail teachers in the State to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential contest next week.
A source in the State told SaharaReporters the governor is traveling around with his campaign team, forcing the teachers into meetings with him and preventing them from undertaking their official responsibilities.
The trip is part of Governor Mimiko’s no-holds-barred carrot-and-stick assault on voters in an effort to ensure victory for President Jonathan in the March 28 presidential contest.
Yesterday the team arrived in Ondo West Local Government where the governor cancelled all school and compelled all the teachers to be present, with attendance taken.
“The governor was not present,” one teacher told SaharaReporters, “but [members of] his campaign team was around telling us why we should not vote for Buhari and APC.”
According to the disgusted teacher who asked not to be named, “They educated us on what we've known. Telling us history. They thought we are happy sitting and some people standing while they are vibrating, telling us lies.” One of the teachers disclosed that while some teachers were given N400, during yesterday's campaign they were each given N100 by Mimiko's team.
Governor Mimiko, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party from the Labour Party last year, is desperate to deliver Ondo to President Jonathan, and is known to be using bribes as one of his weapons.
It would be recalled that last Monday, he bribed some former members of the Peoples Democratic Movement, pretending to be current members, to “endorse” Jonathan.  They then held a press conference at the Adegbemile Cultural Centre Press in Akure, claiming they had endorsed the PDP candidate.
“Quote me anywhere,” one of the beneficiaries said after the make-believe press conference, “Governor Mimiko gave us money through our leaders to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan for second term.”
Bashir Yusuf, the National Chairman of the PDM, subsequently disclosed that those who claimed to be members of the movement endorsing Jonathan were “not card carrying members” of the movement.
Nonetheless, he said, the PDM had as far back as January already endorsed the candidature of General Muhammadu Buhari of the APC for the presidency.

Jonathan, NDDC bribed REC with $100m, jeep to win Rivers – APC

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has alerted the public on alleged efforts being made by President Goodluck Jonathan to use a top official of the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Resident Electoral Commissioner to rig the forthcoming general elections in the state.
The party, in a statement issued Wednesday in Port Harcourt, alleged that the NDDC Executive Director in charge of Finance and Administration, Dr. Henry Ogiri, had been directed by President Jonathan to work closely with the Rivers State REC, Gesila Khan, to ensure that Jonathan wins on March 28, while the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Chief Nyesom Wike, wins on April 11.
“Acting according to the script, Dr Ogiri has purchased a brand new Prado Jeep for Mrs. Gesila Khan and the Jeep is currently parked at the village of Mrs. Khan in Ogbia, Bayelsa State.
“In addition, Dr Ogiri has set aside a whopping sum of $100 million to be deposited into the account of Mrs. Khan before the week runs off,” the Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said in a statement on Wednesday.
“To perfect the plans of winning Rivers State at all costs, Mrs. Khan, who is from President Jonathan’s village and his very close relation, was deliberately posted to Rivers recently to ensure that PDP wins the State despite having been overwhelmingly rejected by our people.
“For INEC to post President Jonathan’s kinswoman to supervise the elections in Rivers State, which he has personally confessed neglecting deliberately in his six years in office, simply betrays the Presidency’s desperation to rig the elections as PDP can never win any free and fair polls in Rivers State”, he alleged.
Ikanya said the strategy of compromising the Independent National Electoral Commission to pave the way for the use of the allegedly missing 14,000 PVCs and PDP’s cloned cards was coming after the PDP failed to wear down Rivers State APC through the alleged killing and detaining of several of its members.
“We will like the security organs to investigate this woman and retrieve this car and expose Dr Ogiri for what he is. This is a man who has failed to pay NDDC staff for months and has also failed to pay contractors for services rendered to the commission, while funds are reserved for use in rigging the 2015 elections for PDP,” Ikanya said.
He also appealed to INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, “who means well for this country with all his innovative ideas designed to stop rigging in our electoral system, to closely monitor the activities of the Rivers REC before she rubbishes all that the electoral umpire has perfected to conduct a free and fair election in the country”.
The APC urged President Jonathan and Chief Wike to play the game according to the rules and stop overheating the polity by adopting untoward ploys through their desperation to “capture” the state at all cost.
Ikanya added: “PDP has pocketed the Police in the State who are ready to do her bidding by arresting the APC leaders indiscriminately. To attempt to buy over the INEC simply demonstrates that Rivers State will be in total mess if Chief Wike succeeds in his bid to capture Rivers instead of allowing the people of Rivers State to elect their Governor and leaders in the March 28th and April 11 gubernatorial election.

11m Nigerian Children Suffering From Stunting Disease – EU, FAO

Stunting is a common symptom of plant disease, resulting in reduced size and loss of vigour. It also affects humans as stunting may be caused by viral, bacterial, fungal, or nematode (eelworm) infections and by noninfectious (abiotic) means including an excess or lack of water, imbalance of soil nutrients, excess light, chemical or mechanical injuries, insect or mite feeding, and too-deep planting. It has been discovered that 11 million Nigerian children are affected by this disease. JOHN OBA reports.
The Head of Cooperation, European Union (EU) delegation to Nigeria and West Africa,  Mr Bran O’Neil, and the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), representative, Dr. Richard Seki, has stated that over 11 million children in Nigeria are suffering from stunting disease.
Speaking in Abuja during the High Level Policy Dialogue on  Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture in Nigeria, Mr O’Neil, said availability of food does not translate into accessibility to many poor people, saying Nigeria have the capacity not only to feed itself but the entire continent.
He said: “Nigeria is a great agricultural country,  you can produce more than you need and feed the African region, you can become the food basket of African, but the nutrition value of food production is very important. It is only the issue of availability of food, there is also the issue of accessibility of food to the poorest of the poor.
“So we have two things here, increasing the availability of high nutritional food and increasing the access to the poorest of the poor.
There are too many malnourished children in this country, over 11 million children are suffering from stunting and many also are suffering from chronic malnutrition and you have to deal with that as well. Nigeria can build and produce enough food and feed their children with balance diets to stop the spread of malnutrition.
The envoy stated that the EU is ready to partner with Nigeria on this and wants the government should go into private public partnership (PPP) to increase the availability high nutritional value food and the acceptability of the committee report in the entire Africa.
On its part the FAO said malnutrition situation in Nigeria is troubling, despite the fact that the country has reached the MDGs 1C, adding that stunting and macro nutrients deficiencies in Nigeria, especially the northern parts are still high.
“The nutrition situation in Nigeria is still troubling, those Nigeria has already reached the MDGs 1C but this has not captured half of the population suffering from hunger, this has not been translated into successful nutritional outcome. Stunting and macro nutrients deficiencies are still high. FAO, has a leading organisation on food nutrition and security strongly believe that one solution to address this situation is to promote nutrition stunting in agriculture and food base approaches,” he said.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, said over 23 million out of 66 million children that go to school hungry in the world are from Africa but that the problem can be solved.
“The reality is that today, 66 million school age children go to school hungry in the world and over 23 million of these are in Africa. Yet this problem can be easily solved. According to the World Food Programme, it will only take $3.2 billion a year to solve this problem and guarantee access to food to all the 66 million school age children in the world.
“While we build high rising buildings and skyscrapers, highways and massive infrastructure so badly needed to further spur growth, Africa is forgetting to feed its own children. Of the 21 countries in the world with prevalence of 40-60 % stunting in the world, 16 of them are in Africa. Not much progress has been made on reducing stunting on the continent, with the percentage of stunted children in Africa reducing from 47% in 1990 to 40% in 2011.
The percentage of pre-school stunted children in Africa has increased from 14.5 million to 60 million and projected to rise to 64.2 million by 20,” he said.
He said for Africa to address the challenge of malnutrition and stunting, there is an urgent need for Africa to produce more of its own food.
Dr Adesina said: “Africa, which has 65% of all the arable land left in the world to feed the 9 billion people in the world by 2050 has difficulty feeding itself, spending $35 billion a year importing food that it can produce in abundance. Africa has no business with importing food. Africa should become a global powerhouse in food, feeding itself and feeding the world.”
He noted that Nigeria still has 37% of under-5 children that are stunted and that the regional disparities exist with malnutrition and stunting.
The Northwest region has the highest level of stunting with 56%, followed by the North East with 42% and the North central with 29%. The regions with the lowest levels of stunting are Southwest with 22%, South-south with 18% and the southeast with 16%. Greater efforts are needed to drastically reduce these high levels of stunting.
“While increased access to food is important, several factors such as low incomes, lack of access to clean water, sanitation, and deworming and unbalanced diets worsen malnutrition and stunting. Therefore, solving the challenge of malnutrition requires an integrated approach and close partnerships across ministries of agriculture, health, education and women affairs.
“This is why the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has now prioritized the issue of nutrition.
We will not only produce more food, we will work to ensure that we produce a lot more nutritious food and expand access to nutritious foods to children in particular. We have developed a new Food and Nutrition Strategy that will accelerate nutrition-transformative agricultural policy in Nigeria. The draft of this document will be presented and discussed today,” he said.
The minister revealed further that to expand access to nutritious foods, the country have prioritized bio-fortification. “Much progress is being achieved as we have accelerated investments in biofortification through our national agricultural research institutions, in partnerships with international development partners, especially the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture, the Global Alliance for Improving Nutrition, Harvest Plus and the International Potato Center.”

Tinubu To PDP: Charge Me To Court If I have Stolen

Tinubu To PDP: Charge Me To Court If I have Stolen

The national leader of All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has challenged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to charge him to court over its allegation that he embezzled the state’s resources.
He disclosed this at the 14th Town Hall meeting of Lagos central senatorial district tagged: “Treading the Path To Prosperity,” organised by Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Wednesday.
According to him, if they were feeling the pain of Bola Tinubu, they would not attack me. This is eight years I left Alausa as governor, they should go to court and prosecute me if I have embezzled the state’s fund.
“They said I acquire Lagos funds, this is my stomach still flat. Afterall, I did not tell the electorates that I did not have shoe before I was voted in the office,” he said.
The former governor of Lagos State said that this was time for PDP to leave the seat of power, saying thousands of graduates died in the name of fighting to secure job.

Buhari’s Wife To Patience: Don’t Be Afraid Of Jail

Hajia Buhari said the PDP’s attempt to paint her husband black with the tar of religion is a desperate attempt to hoodwink the people, saying only those who want to loot the treasury campaign with religion which is at variance with politics.
Hajia Aishat Buhari, wife of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari has replied the wife President Goodluck Jonathan, Mrs. Patience Jonathan who has been campaigning that General Buhari will jail his political opponents if elected President in the March 28 election, saying Patience Jonathan needs not fear as Nigerians only want a change in the way Nigeria is being run presently.
Speaking at a mega rally where she interacted with Women in Edo State Thursday, Hajia Buhari said the PDP’s attempt to paint her husband black with the tar of religion is a desperate attempt to hoodwink the people, saying only those who want to loot the treasury campaign with religion which is at variance with politics.
She said: “Each zone of the country has its peculiar problems. For me in this zone, girl-child trafficking should be considered one of our problems, though I know there is unemployment.
Unemployment is the major factor that contributes to brain drain and also the girl-child trafficking. General Muhammadu Buhari is a leader who led Nigeria some decades ago and he is coming back now to sanitize the system.
“For those that are campaigning, saying that he is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is. But they shouldn’t be afraid, because we are all yearning for change.
The insecurity in the country, the very poor healthcare system, lack of education and other basic necessities that people are lacking I believe Nigerians need somebody like General Muhammadu Buhari now.
“Already, they have painted him black, using religion. I’m happy today that Nigerians realize that they use religion as a cover to loot Nigeria.
Any politician who talks to you about religion is a liar; he only wants to loot the treasury and the little resources you ought to enjoy. So say no politics merging it with religion to deceive the people.
“I’m here today to let Edo women know that when my husband is elected into office as President, all these will be history. The insecurity, the girl-child trafficking, suffering of the widows in the South East will come to an end.
There must be a cultural design that can accommodate the widow. A design that would make the girl-child comfortable wherever she is in this country. She doesn’t have to leave her country to go and prostitute elsewhere, it’s not her portion.
Her portion is to have a highly standard and moral society for her to live in. Get married, have children, train them and also mold them to become the future leaders.
“We are here today to also let you know that the collection of your PVCs is important and don’t ever sell it. It’s like selling your future. If you sell it for N5,000, you won’t see N5,000 again until after four years which will be bad.
Get your PVC, vote for APC, vote for freedom, vote for a new Nigeria with good security, good education, good healthcare, good roads and all the basic necessities.”
In his address to the women, Governor Adams Oshiomhole urged them to vote for the APC since the PDP has failed in 16 years to deliver on electricity and other basic infrastructure.
According to him, the PDP government fleeces even the poor through kerosene sale.
“In sixteen years, PDP did not provide light, we provide the transformers to the communities but the PDP Federal Government cannot power the lights. They collect fixed charges from the people when there is no fixed light.
“They say there’s power reforms, however instead of reform, they deform. They advertised to employ people into the Nigeria Immigration Service and use private company to charge the applicant N1, 000 each.
The private company collected over N800 million from poor youths and took them to the stadium to conduct an interview, at the end people died. Instead of the Minister in charge to be reprimanded, he was given national honors.
“You need to understand the issues. Our call for Change and for people to vote for the APC and vote out the PDP is because the PDP has completely failed and deceived the people for 16 years. So they must go home.”
The people must vote for APC to return Nigeria from darkness to light, from unemployment to employment and from insecurity to security.”
He flayed some religious leaders who want to polarize the country along religious lines, saying the problems facing the country affect both Christians and Moslems so Nigerians should ignore the attempt to hoodwink them and preach hatred using the religion card.
In an address of welcome, wife of the state Deputy Governor, Deaconess Endurance Odubu said Nigerians have made up their minds to vote massively for the All Progressives Congress.
She noted the achievements of Governor Adams Oshiomhole in Edo State and said when voted into power; General Muhammadu Buhari will replicate it at the national level.
She assured Hajia Aishat Buhari that Edo women would vote massively for the APC.

Why Niger Deltans Need Buhari, Not Jonathan

Sabella Ogbobode Abidde explains why the citizens of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria need to vote in President Goodluck jonathan’s opposition at the 2015 national elections schedulled to hold this month.
The oppostion, All Progressives Congress candidate, Muhammadu Buhari has been preaching the need for fight against corruption in the nation.
EDITORS NOTE:
– What has Jonathan done for his people during his tenure ?
– GMB is a very honest man, a purposeful leader.
–  Similarly, a thief is a thief whether or not he is your brother, or a complete stranger. The pain and anguish you suffer will not be less.
Full article below..
If you belong to any of the ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, it is in your best interest and the interest of those you love and cherish to vote for General Muhammadu Buhari. There are no compelling reasons to vote for Jonathan, but for Buhari. Sure, Jonathan is the “son of the soil;” but really, you ought not to be thinking in that direction. Don’t think small. Don’t be provincial. And don’t be trivial with your electoral decisions.
Why Niger Deltans Need Buhari, Not Jonathan
Let’s start with three simple questions: (1) in what ways has your life and the lives of your relatives and friends and neighbors improved since Jonathan became the acting and later substantive president; (2) what are his concrete and meaningful accomplishments in terms of political and economic growth and development; and (3) if he has not positively impacted your life the last six years, what makes you think he would after you entrust him with another four years? Believe me: there is nothing to be gained pouring water in a basket.
After all these years, what has Goodluck Jonathan done for the region and its people? What has he done for the poor, the needy and the underclass? GMB is the better man for the hope and aspiration of the everyday people of the region. There is every reason to believe that within the framework of the law, he will solve many of the age-old problems and challenges of the region (which include environmental degradation, lack of commensurate federal presence, creation of states, and socially responsible behavior on the part of the oil companies).
What I am driving at is simple: don’t entrust four more years to a man who has been a political failure the previous six year? To do so is to waste ten years of your precious life. Don’t you think so? Well then, do the right thing on March 28, 2015: Vote Buhari!
I am a Nigerian with very deep roots in the Niger Delta. Essentially, therefore, we have a shared lineage, shared historical experiences, and shared humanity. What is wrong is wrong and Jonathan, a fellow Niger Deltan, have been wrong for the region and wrong for our country. A man who was not able to expand our past and our present in terms of opportunity and possibilities should not be entrusted with our future.
Don’t let anyone deceive you. GMB is not what his critics and idle minds tell you he is. But instead, this is a very honest man, a purposeful leader. Public records indicate has never stolen or mismanaged a naira that belonged to the people. He is responsible and responsive. If you work for him or work with him, you will be held accountable for your egregious actions and inactions. Can you say this about Jonathan? Can you vouch for the “son of the soil”? Can you?
No one is happy at what the “son of the soil” has done and allowed others to do to our collective wealth. No one is happy at what his wife has done and continues to do. On both sides, there has been no restraint, no accountability, and certainly no scruples. They’ve been sharing and chopping, chopping and sharing. That’s abuse of power. Imagine what four more year of waste, larceny and mismanagement would do to our economy, culture and society and to our governing institutions.
We come from the Niger Delta. But we are more than that. We are Nigerians. This country is ours; and so we cannot afford to let it collapse. We must vote wisely to save it.
President Jonathan did not create many of the problems we now face. But under his watch, things have worsened. In addition, newer problems have germinated. Through it all, he has not exhibited strong or purposeful leadership, or given the nation hope. We cannot continue this way. To accord him four more years is to guarantee the complete collapse of our fatherland.
And since President Jonathan has shown that he is incapable of making a difference, the time has come for us to pit our tent with a different man – a man and a leader capable of resetting our collective clock. He is able to bring a decent measure of decency, sanity, security and hope to a political and economic system gone awry. We are a hopeful and joyful and civic-minded people, we Niger Deltans. Let’s give GMB — a hopeful and joyful and civic-minded leader — the chance to right many of the wrongs of the last 30-plus years.
I have said this before, I will say it again. And again: Age is not and should not be a factor in this election. Second, GMB’s reasoning and decision-making faculties are in order, and in fact, his mind is sharper than many half his age. Third, his ideas and worldview are still relevant; and is a man who is open to contrary opinions. This is a man with a steady voice, steady hands and legs and with an intellect to match. His reputation, in and outside of the country, is an added benefit. Buhari will not use his office to enrich himself or his family. He will declare his assets. Sadly, we cannot say this of Jonathan — the “son of the soil.” Oh, when was the last time he declared his assets?
In terms of violence, please talk to your sons. Talk to your daughters. Talk to your neighbors. Talk to those you love not to take up arms against the people or against the Buhari administration (should Jonathan lose the election). Elections are mostly about numbers. If a majority of the Nigerian electorates vote for GMB, he wins and becomes the next president. He becomes the “will of the people.” Let the new man have his turn and have his say. Do not encourage or condone violence!
Don’t disappoint yourself, don’t disappoint future generations. Help make March 28, 2015 the V-Day — a day of victory for all Nigerians. In massive and overwhelming numbers, vote for CHANGE. Sure, Jonathan is the “son of the soil,” but the fact is that incompetence is incompetence no matter who is at the helm of affairs. Similarly, a thief is a thief whether or not he is your brother, or a complete stranger. The pain and anguish you suffer will not be less. You don’t tolerate indignity simply because the perpetrator is your relative. What is bad is bad.
Respect and love yourselves. Respect and love our country. You do so by voting for a leader who has your interest and the interest of our country at heart.
Again, I ask you: how does a man who has been a political and economic failure tell you he will do better if you entrust him with another four years. Haba, we are Niger Deltans. We are smarter than that! Jonathan can’t be any better than what he has been the last couple of years. A mediocre! He does not have the capacity to be better. Move on. Vote Buhari.

DPP Makes Buhari Its Presidential Candidate

The leading major opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly gotten a boost in his campaign to emerge the country’s number citizen come March 28.
DPP Makes Buhari Its Presidential Candidate
APC Presidential Cnadidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari
Daily Trust reports that the APC candidate was on Thursday adopted by the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) as its presidential candidate for the coming poll slated for March 28.
This was made known in a statement issued in Abuja signed by the party’s outgoing national chairman retired General Bashir Salihu Magashi and acting national chairman, Chief Garshan Benson, after the resolution of the party at its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held today.
Benson while reading the statement said the decision to adopt Buhari was unanimous considering that the PDP led government had ran out of ideas to address challenges facing the nation.
The DPP acting national chairman revealed that the adoption of the former head of state was based on meticulous assessment of the state of the nation by the party.
He said the party decided to adopt the APC presidential candidate considering that the DPP do not have a presidential candidate for the forthcoming election.
“The NEC meeting held on March 19, 2015, at the party’s national headquarters, Abuja resolved to adopt General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC as the DPP presidential candidate for the 2015 general elections. The resolution came through a motion moved by Mr. Danila Peter Asuno, chairman Edo State and seconded by Hon. Chima E. Nsirim, chairman Rivers State and there was no opposition. It is our view that the PDP as a party in power for 16 years has ran out of ideas on how to manage the current challenges facing the country, hence serious need for change of leadership,” he said.
When the outgoing national chairman of DPP, Magashi was asked why the delay until nine days to the presidential election, he said he is bowing out of the position to carry out a serious campaign and mobilise support for Buhari.
“In politics, anything can happen within 24 hours let alone nine days. Twenty four hours can make a big deal. We have been talking with Buhari; we have been speaking with the APC,” Magashi said.
The obviously confused DPP had initially endorsed the incumbent President Jonathan as its presidential candidate in the upcoming March 28 elections before suddenly announcing the adoption of Buhari.

President Jonathan on his part had received a huge boost in his presidential campaign, as the Alliance for Democracy (AD) competing at the presidential elections dropped its candidate to pledge allegiance to Jonathan’s presidential bid.

Man arrested at Lagos airport with Indian hemp stuffed in ‘gala’

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a man smuggling 35.115 kilogramme of Cannabis sativa hidden inside sausage rolls to China.

Friday Ogbonna, 33, was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, during a screening of passengers on their way to China, the anti-narcotics agency said in a statement Wednesday.
In addition to Mr. Ogbonna, the agency also arrested David Famolu, 34, and Joy Osamunyi, 26, on their way to Dubai with 4kg and 19.640kg of cannabis respectively.
Ahmadu Giade, NDLEA’s Chairman, said the arrests were made following intelligence reports and intense covert operations by the agency.
“It is pertinent to alert members of the public of fresh plot by drug barons to smuggle cannabis to countries with capital punishment for drug trafficking because of the high profit involved,” said Mr. Giade.
“Drug barons are wicked and callous. They are only interested in making money even at the risk of others sacrificing their precious lives.”
THE SUSPECTS
According to the agency, Mr. Ogbonna told investigators that he was given N100, 000 to smuggle the drugs to China.
“My friend in China gave me N100, 000 to take a bag to China. The last time I travelled to China, he assisted me,” said Mr. Ogbonna, a trader at the Onitsha main market.
“When he gave me the money to take the bag containing gala to China, I thought he was doing me a favour I never knew he was digging my grave. After my arrest, I feel bad and regret my action. I am married with a child.”

Mr. Famolu, a laptop dealer in Lagos, said he was introduced into the smuggling business by a friend.
“I bought the cannabis myself for N44, 000. I was introduced into drug trafficking by a friend who assisted me with my travel documents,” Mr. Famolu said.
“He told me that if I can bring 4kg of cannabis to Dubai that he will pay me half a million naira. That was what encouraged me to take the risk. I blame myself because I should have listened to my conscience.”
Ms. Osamunyi told investigators that she was unaware her bags contained illegal drugs.

“I lost my parents and I sell shoes and female clothes and bags to earn a living,” said Ms. Osamunyi, who hails from Benin, Edo State.
“My friend in Dubai told me that somebody will give me foodstuff to take to him. That was how I collected the bags from the person she sent to me.
“I still find it difficult (to believe) that this will happen to me but I have learnt a bitter and painful lesson in my life.”
Mr. Giade said that the NDLEA had foiled several attempts by drug barons to smuggle cannabis in foodstuff outside the country.
While calling on people to resist the antics of drug barons, the NDLEA boss promised to adopt measures aimed at increasing the effectiveness of drug eradication efforts. Such measures include timely detection of drugs and exposure of modes of operation by drug syndicates.
The suspects will soon be charged to court, according to the agency. (Premium Times)

Olubadan endorses Ajimobi, Buhari

The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1, Thursday endorsed the candidature of Governor Abiola Ajimobi in the April 11 governorship poll.
The monarch declared his endorsement for the governor at the Yoruba Summit held at the Parliament Building housing the Oyo State House of Assembly, Secretariat, Ibadan, the state capital.
The monarch, who spoke through the Eekerin Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Eddy Oyewole, said Ajimobi’s accomplishments were outstanding, pointing out that his feat made him install him (Ajimobi) as the Atunluse (change agent) of Ibadan land in 2013.
He said his conviction was still as strong as it was in 2013 because Ajimobi has since then increased the level of transformation of the entire state.
The monarch recalled that members of the Olubadan in-Council used to think that the governor was only transforming Ibadan but that they were stunned to see similar transformation of other towns when they visited.
Chief Oyewole said: “Come March 28, make sure you vote for Gen. Buhari. And on April 11, cast your vote for Abiola Ajimobi.
“Ajimobi is developing other towns in Oyo State. We didn’t know Ajimobi can achieve this much. We have always heard that there is no money. So, when we saw how Ajimobi was building roads, beautifying cities and embarking on other laudable projects, we asked him where he was getting money.
“Since he was installed as the Atunluse of Ibadan land, he has even done more. Let Ajimobi continue and let them not shift the election again.”
The endorsement received a terrific applause from the audience.

Fear of exposure of alleged massive corruption grips PDP

Palpable fear has gripped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over speculations that the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) was plotting to expose some dirty deals involving some high ranking government officials, including President Goodluck Jonathan.
At a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, the Director of Media and Publicity of the party’s presidential campaign organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said the APC intends to expose the alleged sleaze through a documentary.
Some of the alleged sleaze transactions under the Jonathan administration, as stated by Fani-Kayode include: $15 million U.S. Private Jet Arms Scandal, N5 trillion stolen under Jonathan, N21 billion Pension funds embezzled, N10 billion private jet scandal, N1.6 trillion oil subsidy scandal, and much more.
But an All Progressives Congress (APC) top official last night denied the claim, saying the opposition party “will not go into the gutter with them”, he added that the PDP is afraid of losing the election, “that is why they are desperate as seen from this allegation.”
Fani-Kayode said: “As we are addressing you, a scurrilous and utterly baseless documentary and video has been commissioned and compiled by them. It is titled ‘’Nigerians…What Is Going On’’. In the documentary, the opposition has listed some areas which they claim reflect the corrupt nature of the Nigerian people, the nature of the President and the nature of the government that he is heading.
“All manner of lies, deceit, fabrication, slander, falsehood and misrepresentation of the basic facts are in thedocumentary. The whole thing is simply an attempt to denigrate the Nigerian people and bring it into disrepute and opprobrium before the International community.
“Two million dollars was budgeted for this irresponsible and shameful project and the services of no less than three specialists and well known international spin doctors from two western countries were procured.
“These specialists are now in Nigeria to put finishing touches to their project. The whole idea is to perfect the work and then release it to the international television networks and the Nigerian public three days before the elections.
“They have targeted the oil and gas sector in a particularly brutal and shameless manner and they seek to tarnish the name and image of Mr. President and those that run that sector with sleaze, dirty lies, disinformation and unsubstantiated allegations”.
The PDP campaign spokesman said the objective of the planned documentary is to incite the people, to destabilise the country and to bring the President into utter disrepute.
“This documentary, which we consider to be very dangerous, is full of false and irresponsible postulations about what is going on in this country and if it is released in its present form, it is capable of setting Nigeria on fire.
“We are letting the Nigerian people know about this in good time in order to pre-empt it and we want the opposition to be fully aware of the fact that we know what they are doing, what they are planning, when they were planning it and who is involved. We also know the amount budgeted for this project, who is disbursing the money and what their real intentions are.
“We also want them to be fully aware of the fact that even if General Muhammadu Buhari, Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi or any of them are in their toilets, in their bedrooms, in their covens or anywhere else they may choose to hide and hold their secret meetings, we know what they are doing.
“This document was passed on to us by a loyal and patriotic Nigerian who is working with them and who is a key officer in one of their most sensitive and secret cells and covert intelligence units”, Fani-Kayode added.
The PDP campaign organisation also said it has uncovered the existence of an illegal radio station, “APC Radio or Radio Chanji” which it said has been broadcasting falsehood, propaganda and inciting comments periodically over the last few days.
The PDP accused a former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Yusuf Mamman of being the brain behind the radio station and called on the security agencies to arrest Mamman and other APC leaders.
“We seize this opportunity to call on the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) to set its house in order while ensuring that its rules are followed. We call on them to use all means available to stop this illegal radio station from operating and if necessary to block its illegal transmissions.
“The objective of the radio station is to serve as a propaganda tool to fight the government after they lose the elections on March 28th. The brain behind the operation is the former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi who equally founded Radio Kudirat during the days of NADECO when the government of General Sani Abacha was being fought by a number of people in Nigeria.
“The opposition know that they would lose the election and after this happens it is their intention to begin to use this illegal radio station to incite Nigerians against the government
