Chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Smart Adeyemi yesterday, said the All Progressives Congress (APC) has committed two major mistakes against God and Nigerians.
The two mistakes according to Adeyemi are: foisting Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), a dictator, on the electorate and making his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, a man of God, abandon his pastoral calling.
In an interview with newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Senator Adeyemi insisted that the APC made “a grievous mistake by picking Buhari as its presidential candidate and they capped that up by bringing Prof. Osinbajo. They went and lured a man of God from the church to join a dictator. He should be prepared to do restitution after March 28.”
“By foisting Buhari on Nigerians; a man, who ordinarily should be asking for forgiveness and doing restitution in his old age, the APC has wronged Nigerians. This is a man, who is not even in tune with economic realities.”
Senator Adeyemi called on the leadership of the Redeemed Church of God not to allow Osinbajo back into its fold but make him undergo cleansing and restitution.
His words: “APC lured a man to betray his divine calling. Osinbajo should not be allowed to go back to Redeemed Church. He has betrayed the sheep he’s pastoring. I’m ashamed that he has betrayed his calling.
“He should undergo restitution and purification. Why? Because he has mingled in sinful activities. He has joined people in maligning a man chosen by God to lead Nigeria and left the path to align with a man that sinned against God and Nigerians.
“He’s now celebrating a dictator against the Nigerian people. It was Buhari who jailed people for 150 and 200 years when he was Head of State. Where have you ever heard of such sentences? If he thinks some people have forgotten, we have not.
“Osinbajo is backing a man without vision and has decided to join a party that is godless. The APC is a party that has been formed purely for vendetta; the APC is only out to retaliate and settle scores with people and its unfortunate that a man of God is in cahoots with these groups of people. The APC was formed purely for business purposes.
“Buhari today should be kept in isolation, praying for forgiveness of sins against God and the Nigerian people; for the oppression of the Nigerian people and the draconian laws he foisted on the people.”
Senator Adeyemi insisted that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win the March 28 and April 11 polls with a landslide.

OPC Reveals Who Attacked Gani Adams
The Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has revealed the people behind the attacks on its leader, Otunba Gani Adams.

The group’s revelation was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Hakeen Ologunro, a copy obtained by Vanguard.
In the statement, the OPC distance itself from the activities of those who alleged in a statement that they have been betrayed by Gani Adams, saying: the attackers were expelled members of the congress.
“The actions of a faceless group, which calls itself the OPC National Coordinating Council has come to our notice. The group, comprising people who were expelled from the OPC as far back as 2007, claimed in a press statement that they have been betrayed by Otunba Gani Adams. This allegation by the shady characters who signed the statement is indeed laughable,” Ologunro said.
The publicity secretary described the group claiming to be members of an organization they were shamefully expelled from as a drowning man trying to hold on to anything to stay afloat.
“The group, claiming to be members of an organization they were expelled from more than three years now, is nothing but a drowning man trying to cling to everything in sight to stay afloat. And of course, we are not unaware that the action of the group is the hand of Peter and voice of Paul. They are only being used by some politicians to attack the OPC,” he said.
Ologunro, while discrediting the group further berated them that in their ignorance, they mentioned the pipeline contract recently given to OPC as an effort by President Goodluck Jonathan to buy the Yoruba votes, noting that they did not know that, the said contract had actually started more than two years ago.
“However, while it would not be necessary to honour them by replying their statement point by point, we would, however, want the public to know that this group of people is only out to remake themselves and to seek the attention, which they know that they will get by attacking the person of Otunba Gani Adams. But they have forgotten or have simply refused to acknowledge the fact that the beautiful roles Otunba Adams has played in Yorubaland cannot be rubbished or obliterated,” he said.
The publicity secretary gave the name of the major perpetrator of these discriminating attacks as Shina Akinpelu, who was indeed a member of the OPC in Ibadan, but was expelled from the organization after he engaged in anti-congress activities in 2013.
Ologunro revealed that two weeks ago, Akinpelu came to Lagos from his Ibadan abode to plead with Otunba Gani Adams to reconsider the sack and allow him to come back, assuring that he is a changed man.
“At that meeting, Otunba Adams, in his usual manner, told Akinpelu that he bore no grudge against him and gave him money. But like the leopard, Akinpelu has confirmed that he can never be reformed,” he said.
The Gani Adams faction of the OPC, accompanied by members of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation, took to the streets in Lagos to demand the removal of the INEC boss ahead of the March 28 general elections.
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from the Pro-Goodluck Jonathan protest held in Lagos on March 16 that paralysed parts of the city and triggered mixed reactions from Nigerians, but despite criticism from some faction of the congress, Gani Adams, recently explained why he and his group are loyal supporters of President Jonathan.
Gani Adams, who is a dire hard supporter of Jonathan, was one of the leaders of socio-cultural groups who met Mr. President individually in Lagos recently and there were reports that the president doled out hundreds of thousands of dollars to the groups and their leaders.

PDP Using Religion To Loot Nigeria, Says Buhari’s Wife
BENIN— WIFE of former Head of State and Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Hajia Aishat Buhari, yesterday in Benin City, Edo State, accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of using religious politics as a decoy to loot the nation’s treasury, adding that Nigerians must vote the party out before it grounds the country completely.
She also lampooned the PDP for the alleged campaign of calumny launched against her husband such as telling Nigerians that the intention of her husband, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, would be to jail Nigerians if voted into power, saying that only those who have “something to hide” should be scared and not innocent Nigerians who deserve power, good education and other basic amenities of life.
Hajia Buhari, who addressed Edo State women at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, said: “They have been painting Buhari black using religion, but I am happy today that Nigerians have discovered that PDP is using religion as a cover to loot Nigeria. They have grounded the country. Whoever talks to you about religion in this country is a liar, he wants to loot. He wants to loot the little resources Nigerians will enjoy. Say no to religious politics, they are using it to deceive the people.This came as Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State insisted that Nigerians will continue to witness power outage unless the PDP was voted out of power, adding that after 16 years in office, rather than revive and build more refineries which, according to him, will create jobs, the PDP allegedly destroyed the refineries so as to continue to import fuel and kerosene to the detriment of Nigerians.
“When my husband is elected, insecurity, girl child trafficking, suffering of widows in the South-East will come to an end. There must be a cultural design that will accommodate widows in the South-East and a policy that will make a girl child comfortable in this country. Our girls do not need to leave Nigeria to prostitute abroad, it is not our portion. Our portion is to train our children to be future leaders.
“Girl child trafficking can be considered as one of our problems in the South-South zone. I know there is unemployment here too. Unemployment is the major cause of brain drain and girl child trafficking. Gen. Buhari is a leader, he led Nigeria years ago and he is coming back now to sanitise the system. For those who are saying that he is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is.
“They should not be afraid because we are all yearning for change. There is insecurity in the country, bad healthcare system, decay in the educational sector and there are other basic necessities that our people are lacking. I think Nigeria needs Buhari now.”
In her welcome address, wife of the deputy Governor of Edo State, Mrs Endurance Odubu, who commended Governor Oshiomhole for the opportunities given to women in the state to excel, described Gen. Buhari as the leader Nigerians deserve at this point in time “to revive our economy and end this prevailing suffering in Nigeria today.

GEJ Says His Boko Haram Victories Make Him Competent
President Goodluck Jonathan has said the recent successes recorded by his administration against Boko Haram, as well as developmental projects in the northeast and other parts of the country, showed that he is the candidate competent enough to earn a second term.

Speaking at the PDP rally in Damaturu, Yobe state on Thursday, Jonathan pledged that the federal government would no longer concede any part of Nigeria to Boko Haram or any other militant group, while boasting that his part in the victories against Boko Haram warrants a second term for him.
Addressing PDP supporters, Jonathan said the federal government was committed to ending the Boko Haram insurgency and other security issues affecting the country, Daily Trust reports.
Jonathan, however, said the country is not yet completely safe from the Boko Haram militancy.
Jonathan first landed at the Air Force Base in Maiduguri where he was received by Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state.
He then boarded a military helicopter that took him to Damaturu which is 120km away, and was received at the August Stadium by top PDP stalwarts including the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the state, Adamu Maina Waziri.
Speaking when he visited the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashemu II, the president said Nigeria was not completely safe from terrorist activities as some of them are living with the people.
The president condoled the people of Yobe state and families that lost relatives to terrorist activities.
He assured them that his administration was committed to wiping out the sect completely from the northeast and from the rest of the country.
The president said that Yobe state had been cleared of the Boko Haram terrorists. Though the president did not announce it, the military had earlier announced that Adamawa state had been cleared of the insurgents, leaving parts of Borno state as the only areas still under the control of the group.

Yoruba Elders Split Over Jonathan, Buhari

Divided into two groups, the leaders held parallel summits in Ibadan and Lagos and took divergent positions on what the Yoruba should do in the coming elections with reasons. While those at the Ibadan gathering were mostly for Buhari, the Lagos crowd rooted for Jonathan.
Those at the event included Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana; General Alani Akinrinade (retd), Governors Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
In Lagos for President Jonathan were Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Dr Frederick Fasehun, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Chief Olabode George among others.
IG Reveals How Politicians Plan Post-Election Violence
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, has suggested that there plans by some politicians to announce results of the general elections, rather than allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to announce the results when due.
Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba says he has reason to believe that some politicians are planning to declare themselves winners in the election. He however assures police security will be available and tight.
While speaking on Thursday at the briefing of accredited observers for the 2015 General Elections by the INEC chairman, the police IG said politicians must realise that the duty of conducting and announcing the result of the elections is that of INEC and urged them to desist from announcing the result ahead of INEC.
“Let me talk about the negative activities of some of our politicians which bring about violence and threaten the integrity of the electoral process, including refusal to accept the result of an election.
“That is not even the real problem; what is the problem is if you refuse to accept the result and you resort to extra-judicial activities. Let me say it without mincing words that (if you do that) you are engaging in an activity that is against the electoral guidelines. The guidelines state that it is only INEC that can release an election result.
“Already, we are getting information and we hope it is not true that some people are planning to declare the result themselves. Certainly, it is an invitation to chaos and it is flouting the provisions of the law.
“You cannot be a leader if you don’t exhibit the qualities of leadership; a leader does not engage in illegality and particularly when it breaches even the peace of the people that you claim you are fighting for,” Abba was quoted by Daily Trust.
The IGP further said: “As stakeholders in this election, there is the need for you to know that if you don’t accept the declared result by INEC officials at different levels, the best as provided in the law is for you to approach the tribunal.”
The police boss however assured that his men and indeed all other security agencies were poised to be guided by law in the discharge of their electoral duties so as to meet up with the expectations of the Nigerian people of having free, fair and credible elections.
Abba, however, advised INEC to be more proactive in the discharge of its responsibilities especially in the distribution of electoral materials which, he said, had a record of being late in most places, leading to lateness in commencement of voting. This, he said, in turn encouraged rigging and manipulation.
The IGP also asked INEC to take another look at the idea of people staying behind after voting, saying such could lead to violence especially if after the release of the result and the people they wanted to win failed to win.
“The party agents should be enough to protect the interest of each of the political parties,” he advised INEC.
Earlier, the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, had said the selection of the observers was done in line with the guidelines which informed INEC’s engagement with foreign and local observers.
This, he said, ensures that all parties recognise that election observation is a co-operative exercise in which all sides have rights and duties.
Jega reminded the observers that their duties are purely to observe and not to monitor the election which he said are two distinct things.
“According to the INEC Guidelines for election observation, there is a fundamental difference between the two. An election monitor is an integral part of the election management structure and has a role in the administration of the election while an observer, on the other hand, does not have any role in the administration of the election nor any control or oversight functions,” he explained.
The police IG was one of many security agency bosses to be summoned by President Goodluck Jonathan in a closed door meeting. The IG was invited along with the INEC Chairman.
The details of the meeting has not been revealed with many claiming the meeting was to prepare the security forces for any post-election violence while some political observers think the meeting is similar to the one that helped rig the Ekiti elections.
